Chivalric Academy
The Academy is where Knights of Nemel are raised and trained. It feeds to the nation's three Orders of Chivalry:
Page School begins at age 7. The Squire Program accepts pages that meet criteria around age 13 or 14. The title of Knight Bachelor can be granted to Squires after age 19; knights bachelor are eligible to join a Knightly Order.
Page students who are not interested in pursuing a career as a knight, but have acquitted themselves will receive offers for apprenticeships with professionals in the student's area of interest.
The school is overseen by the Order of the Stones. The Layrd Seneschal appoints a Provost who oversees the school. Most of the teachers are retired or active knights, but not all.
Enrollment
Any child in Nemel can enroll in the academy, but retention is performance based. There is no tuition fee, but children whose families can afford it are expected to pay for their room and board. Those who cannot are either patroned by individuals or the state. The school is open all year, as many students either lack the means or time to travel back and forth on breaks.Page School
Pages study the basics of academics, arts, and physical fitness. Academics include mathematics, grammar, history, sciences, and magics. Arts include literature and story telling, painting and sculpture, music, theater, and tactiles. Physical Fitness includes riding, swimming, hand to hand combat, weaponry. The programs tailor to the students as they grow within their subjects and find their strengths and natural abilities.Squire Program
Students that acquit themselves in Page School will advance to the Squire Program. Areas of study are further narrowed along the students interests and acuity. In their second year, Squires begin fieldwork within the Orders. They work alongside fully fledged knights seeing and learning the duties of each group in the real world. While the fieldwork program allows each student to have firsthand knowledge of each Order, must students already know where they will end up based on their focus of study.Areas of Study
Riding: human students are taught horseback riding, of course, but also Hippocamp riding. Dragon riding is taught to both the human and dragon students. Mathematics: advanced mathematics are used in all of the Orders, whether it is Frost architects, Wave shipwrights, and so on.
