Ailbhe (Al-va)
Ailbhe (a.k.a. Aili)
Ailbhe was born to the Dragons Lyric and Nolan less than a year after Lyric's sibling, Rhythmus, and Prince Cadence Dragon Brother left Nemel on their apparently ill-fated quest; tensions were high. Aili is Gifted with especially strong Planar Magic in addition to Spirit Magic and some Star Magic. Even with these Gifts, Aili was raised to be a knight and is all about physical combat.
Childhood on Nemel
Nolan leads a search for Rhythmus and Cadence when Ailbhe is a toddler and never returns. Lyric does their best to give Aili a normal childhood, but is caught up in their own parent, Ard Ri Allegra's, fractured relationship with Sovereign Cadence the Last (who had been Allegra's longtime friend and partner), safeguarding their people, and dealing with not knowing what in the Hell Plane happened to their spouse, Nolan. In 017 things are still getting worse in Nemel and dragons are disappearing; Lyric sends Aili away from the capital with Lyric's younger sibling, Melody, who is relocating the population. After just a few years nowhere in Nemel seems safe anymore; Mel leads a group of their people south, off island. After settling, Aili is left yet again when Mel, fearing for their parents, sibling, and remaining people, goes back to Ballycay.Capture
In yr 025 Ailbhe is taken by a cell of the Life Blood Ministries. They imprison Aili in a Pocket Plane, outside of time, tethering their Spirit to a Simulacrum for centuries in order to use Aili's magic as their own. Aili remains in the stasis of the pocket plane until yr 314 (technically making her 312 years old, although she hasn't aged since her capture at 23). Ailbhe who had persistently used their Gifts to telepathically search for their home plane senses Princess Azalee- owing to Azalee becoming a sort of Star/Spirit beacon. In the beginning they can only find each other once a month at best (following Zaz's menstrual cycle), and it takes them time to build trust. Eventually Aili is able to share with Zaz how the Cult captured them and the other beings. Aili's information is critical in the defeat of the Ministry segment imprisoning the magical beings on the Western continent.Living in a New World
After being freed, Ailbhe and Azalee remain close, having opened their minds to each other; they travel north to Nemel together. Aili helps Zaz adjust to her life changes, just as she helps Aili through adjusting to their new reality- the world is nothing like what Aili remembers. Some dragons they knew are there, but younger or older, and some are long dead- some of their long dead friends’ children are older than Aili is- time didn’t pass in the “pocket planes” and those captured didn’t all go in at the same time. Aili has a real shock when they get back "home" to Ballycay only to find the motte where Aili's family home had been dug out is completely filled in as if it had never been. They get an even bigger shock though when their father is also among the freed beings, and not all that much older than Aili is. A big part of the reconciliation is assimilating the dragons into The Academy in Ballycay. Even the dragons who have already completed Academy training and were knights, prior to being Pocket Planed, have to teach interested current human knights how to pair and work together. It's a big endeavor, but goes a long way in reestablishing trust. They're still working through the kinks when their kids go to school.Family and Responsibilities
Ailbhe marries Iain; they have Fionn/Deimne in 318 and Broodsiblings, Lyra and Bryce in 321. Aili and Iain raise their kids together in the castle with Zaz and Diarmuid's child, Lynzee, and Brant and Cade's child, Trinny. When they are of age, the kids start page school at the Academy, and are joined by Dayza's son Admus. In addition to parenthood, Aili is named the Ard Ri of their people. Aili finds the council of elders to be reactionary and restrictive- understandable with what they've been through, I guess, but also there's an extra layer too as their parent, Nolan, is by custom a member even though they are (now) only a few years older than Aili. All of that would be plenty to be getting on with, but as one of the main protagonists of the release of all the simulacrum Aili also feels a duty to help deal with the chaos many of those beings unleashed back on the land. They spend a lot of time dealing with rogue beings, some of which were always mean, but some are just lost out of time and confused and scared.Mental characteristics
