  1. Loss of final short vowels.
  2. Final /a/ shifts to /o/ in open syllables.
  3. The nasals /m/, /n/ merge to /m/ before bilabial and labiodental consonants.
  4. Diphthongization: /i/, /u/ become /ei/, /ou/ in stressed syllables.
  5. Intervocalic /h/ disappears.
  6. Fronting of /k/ to /tʃ/ before /i/, /ei/.
  7. Simplification of clusters: /str/ > /st/, /ndr/ > /nr/, /mpr/ > /mr/.
  8. Unstressed /e/, /o/ > /i/, /u/ in closed syllables.
  9. Rhotacism: /z/ > /r/ between vowels.
  10. Lenition: Voiceless stops become fricatives between vowels (/p/ > /f/, /t/ > /θ/, /k/ > /x/).
  11. Devoicing of initial voiced stops.
  12. Vocalic epenthesis: An /e/ is inserted between any cluster of three consonants.
  13. Assimilation of /n/ to following bilabial and labiodental consonants (/mb/, /nf/ > /mm/, /ff/).
  14. Word-initial /r/ becomes /hr/.
  15. All unstressed vowels reduce to /ə/ in non-initial syllables.
