Lefwin Adran

Lefwin Adran, Lef to his friends, is a human who grew up in the Fishing District alongside his best friend Ascal Shafiel. The son of a net maker, Lef spent most of his free time helping his parents and learning the trade. The family was never well off, but had enough to keep themselves afloat. His father would accept a portion of the first catch with his net as payment if the fisherman couldn't afford a new net, which never helped with the bottom line but did make him very popular among the town. Lef continued this tradition as his father's fingers grew sore with arthritis and he began to take over the family business.
Lef was devastated when he learned that Ascal died at sea. He felt as though he should do something to honor his life long friend, but was unsure what he could do. He spoke with Ascal's wife, Enota, at the funeral and learned about the dire financial situation and her worries about their child not having a father. Lef, having not found love himself, offered to marry Enota and support Ascal's child as his own. Lef married Enota Adran only days before Vanryell was born. As the boy grew, Lef told him stories about Ascal, about how brave and kind he was to those around him, how lucky he was to have known him, and how proud he would have been of his son.
