Kaz Thurum
Kaz Thurum is one of the two remaining Dwarven kingdoms. Set in the Thurum Range in the south of Estellia, this Kingdom has existed since the start of the second age when refugee's from the Great Convergence re-grouped and began to extract ore from the mountains.
Seen as the lesser of the two remaining kingdoms, the mountains of Thurum have been stripped clean of any easy to access ores and gems, pushing them to dig deeper than anywhere else in Tir Newydd. Now they instead make their money from collaboration with other kingdoms on construction of new technology and the slow selling of their stocks of precious metals.
Structure
The King is the ultimate leader of the kingdom but the Miner's Council, a group of advisors selected by the king, tend to do most of the work.
Culture
The people of Kaz Thurum are hearty and hard workers. Respect is a strong concept among them, with fights breaking out over words fairly often. Unlike the northern kingdom, they are very open and welcoming to outsiders.
Public Agenda
After hitting a plateau, the agenda is currently to maintain the halls and expand the mines deeper.
Assets
Massive amounts of rare metals and gems are stored in the vaults.
History
Kaz Thurum was created by refugee's of the great convergence in 176, led by the Thurum family. For centuries since they have produced huge amounts of metal and precious gems to sell to the rest of the continent.
They were eventually conquered by Margot during his conquest, when he threatened to bring the mountain down on top of them.
Since the fall of the empire they have been struggling with their decline in production of metals and gems.
Demography and Population
Most of the population of Kaz Thurum consists of dwarves, but unlike their relatives in the north this nation is open to outsiders living and working within the halls. The second largest demographic would be Gnomes, who come here from The Grove.
Territories
The only real territory that Kaz Thurum controls is the Thurum Range. Though even then they only really control beneath the mountain, allowing some small hamlets to live and thrive above them in the hostile mountainous environment.
Foreign Relations
With strong relations with most nations around them, they have built a strong reputation among the nations in the East and South.
Agriculture & Industry
An industrial power of almost un-comparable scale, Kaz Thurum was the biggest producer of metal and precious stones for years. Now in decline, the halls have swapped to manufacturing of technology and other wears.
