France

A politically fragmented and geographically diverse country roughly occupying the ancient region of Gaul. France's monarchy is fairly weak; inherited lordships, counties and dukedoms are the dominant political unit. However, King Philip II seems intent on changing this, starting with the Angevin Empire ruled by King Richard Plantagenet, which controls roughly half of French territory.
