Latin Church

The Latin Church is the dominant form of Christianity in Western and Central Europe. It claims superiority over other Christian churches. The Orthodox Church rejects this, which led to the Great Schism of 1054.   The Catholic Church's claim to primacy rests on its foundation by Saint Peter, the first Pope. Jesus proclaimed Peter to be the foundation on which faith would be built.
