Quivering Forest

A dangerous and well-populated forest that stretches from the Dragonspine Mountains and mouth of the river Stanjow in the West to the Thar Badlands in the East. Considered to have magical properties by many locals, the forest is home to a range of species and peoples including; elves, fae and isolated human settlements as well as a host of more fantastical (and intelligent) creatures. Druids and rangers of different denominations can be found wandering its hidden paths and will often provide aid to strangers, especially those who become lost or threatened. In turn, those who threaten the forest, whether hunting, logging or trespassing, will feel its wrath.   The forest has a long and uneasy history with Phlan , filling the role of both ally and potential threat. On the one hand, it acts as a buffer against the tribes of Thar and the Ride, making armies and hordes think twice of trying to move through the forest and risk angering it’s many fearsome inhabitants.   In good times, the people of the forest have provided aid to neighbouring cities, including militarily, and will often trade with the locals and send the occasional caravan & exotic goods to Phlan. However, in bad times, the denizens of the forest have exacted a terrible toll on the region and its inhabitants. When the Forest feels threatened by encroaching civilisation, it will often last out with terrible consequences; unleashing waves of magic, monsters and destruction.
