A9 - Buttered Skulls
1496.SU.42 After spending the last few months working on the Iron Fist, replacing rotten boards, clearing the hull and making good the rigging. The airship was finally in a good enough state the others were willing to take a voyage. When setting foot on the deck they were surprised to see Nilsa Dendra, the young boy they had rescued from the Redbrand Ruffians. He had taken a keen interest in the airship and had been key in helping repair and crew the vessel. Facktore had also journeyed from Gnomengarde and installed a bolt thrower to the front of the deck. With Beric’s information about the no show from Big Al Calzone for the meeting regarding supply and distribution of his famous butter skulls. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to take the airship for a “spin”. Keeping the airship low enough to be able to see the trail in case they passed Big Al on his way. When they passed the ruined village Conyberry Maple caught sight of three horses wearing blankets freely grazing around the ruined buildings. Landing to investigate the group also saw a huge cow grazing on the other side. Thinking it strange the group decided to send one of the airships crew back to Phandalin with the horses. Continuing on the journey towards Butter skull ranch the party soon saw smoke rising from a farm on the edge of the Triboar trail. As Butterskull Ranch came into sight it was clear the smoke was rising from the farm. Bodies lay in the fields, slain. As they drew closer Orcs begun to throw spears and fire arrows at the airship. Only causing minor damage, Facktore began firing the bolt thrower back at the orcs, quickly killing many. Disembarking the ship the group made their way to the main farmstead killing the remaining orcs. Inside the farmstead Orcs were caught unaware as the party stormed in. The once clean rooms ransacked and destroyed. A tight confines battle ensued, where the muscular Orcs pushed their way through tight corridors and rooms. But methodically clearing rooms and slaying the Orcs the party eventually found Al in the cellar, gagged and bound. With the farm safe and the dead buried, Big Al thanked the party. But mentioned his prize cow which produced all the millk for his butter was missing. Remembering the cow they saw on the journey to the ranch, the party returned to the ruins of Conyberry and retrieved her. Later that evening over an amazingly well cooked evening meal the group discussed business terms and how they would distribute his butter skulls across the sword coast. With terms agreed and all well stuffed they retire to a evening sleeping on the airship docked at the farm.Missions/Quests Completed
Find what had happened to Big Al, save him from the orcs and bring his prized cow home.
Broker a deal to distribut the Butterskulls.
