Edward Parker II
Edward Parker II is a Corporal in the New California Republic Army, stationed in Blythe in 2300, under the command of his father, Nathan Parker, and alongside his brother, Carson Parker.
Edward does not subscribe to the notion of his family's obligations, and is only in the military due to conscription. Before this he was a newspaper editor in the Hub.
Growing up, Edward did not know his father at all, but everytime he tried to play at soldier, or talk about his grandfather and father, his mother, Rebecca, would chastise him. This lead to a very negative view growing up, of his lineage. This was the opposite of his older brother, Carson, already old enough to write to their father, argued regularly with their mother about the subject. This culminated in 2290, when Carson was 13 and Edward 11, when Carson ended up running away. Neither Rebecca or Edward knew where he went, until 2294, when Republic Radio announced that yet another Parker had graduated from the officer's school in Fort Tandi. Both he and his mother felt like Carson had abandoned them, which led to Edward despising the military entirely.
When he turned 16, Edward applied to the Newspapers of California, attempting to be a writer, most turned him down, wondering what was wrong with him, and why he wasn't pursuing the family career. Finally, a newspaper in Hub hired him as an editor. And Edward worked there until 2298, when he received his draft notice. Edward was dismayed, but ultimately proved that, like his family, he excelled in the military. He left basic training in the top 10 of his class, and was eventually promoted to Corporal. In 2299 Edward, along with his brother and father, were transferred to Blythe, under the command of his grandfather. Relations have been icy, at best.
