Hub

Hub is a massive cityscape in central California, dedicated to trade and mercantilism of all kinds. The Hub is also the reason for bottlecaps being used as currency, due to the massive amounts of them, their uniformity, and their light weight, the merchants backed them with the most valuable commodity in the wasteland: water. To this day bottlecaps are the most reliable currency in the southwest. Hub eventually was nearly monopolized by the Crimson Caravan Company, who remained in power for decades, until the 2280s, when the CCC moved to the Free Economic Zone of the Mojave, after the clear incoming of an economic and political implosion within New California Republic. This movement caused further destabilization of the region, especially within the Hub, which erupted into infighting due to the power vacuum. As of 2300 the worst of the hostilities between merchant families has passed, but it is still not entirely over.

Government

Hub is run by a group of Merchant and Caravan Families and companies, who collectively work on a council, in theory. In reality they have become incredibly volatile with the Crimson Caravan removing itself from control, and reducing its presence within the city. Without a firm hand controlling the direction of the economy, dozens of smaller companies erupted in corporate espionage and even open warfare. For the entire year of 2291 the city center and market were considered off limits for citizens and travelers, as rivals began open warfare, torching shops and killing other merchants and the mercenaries they'd hire.

Infrastructure

Hub has a multitude of brick, cement, and stucco buildings, along with several skyscrapers, both for business and residence.
