Legate
The title of Legate is a that of a Governor and General within Caesar's Legion. At any moment there are believed to be around six or seven. One of which is a dedicated frontline commander.
Due to outsiders rarely entering the Legion's territory, only the frontline commanders have ever been named.
Appointment
Only Caesar may appoint his Legates, and they serve in this capacity until death. As far as anyone knows, no Legate has ever died of old age. They have all died in battle, or been executed for their failures.
