The Middle Sea

The Middle Sea is an irregularly shaped body of water about 2400 miles long east-west and up to 1000 miles wide north-south. Many rivers feed into it but there is a single inlet / outlet to the speculated World Ocean at the extreme west end called the Ultimate Gate, "guarded" by two great rocky outcrops known as the Pillars. Regions of the Middle Sea are known by local names; a large enclosed bay in the north-eastern corner is called the Inhospitable Sea.   The land mass ringing the Middle Sea is home to many civilizations and settlements; on the northern shore two great peninsulas jut down and (from west to east) are home to the Etrusca and Pelopon people. To the east the Levanise live near the shore, while further inland the Uruks dwell. To the south of these civilizations are the Al-Djinn of the deserts. South of the middle sea are (from east to west) the Khemri and the Tunis. There are many smaller civilizations, settlements and colonies on the land masses ringing the Middle Sea. The Sea itself is full of small islands, some independent and others colonies of the larger powers.
