Fastur
Fastur is an odd sight even in the Gamma Age, built almost entirely from the contents of what was once a vehicle junkyard. Every building is constructed from the parts of ancient automobiles, trucks, jetliners, even a couple naval vessels (just how they got there is anyone's guess). The town is located beside the remains of an ancient highway and town residents (known as Speedies from a word-play on the town's name) have made uses of pieces of the highway to add to the town's buildings when needed.
Fastur is about 5 km southwest of what is now called Old Fastur, a ruined city from the Old World that the current town is named after. People from Fastur, however, avoid Old Fastur as much as they can, and they are happy to tell visitors why it's important to stay from the old ruins.
Demographics
Fastur has a small population, and almost everyone knows almost everyone else. The majority of the town's residents are stock humans and engineered humans, though there are quite a few true mutants as well, and even a few synthetics.
Industry & Trade
Fastur bases its entire economy on the manufacturing industry. While it's possible to get just about any manufactured item here, Fastur's focus is on vehicles. This is the place to come to if you want to buy a car or truck, get new parts for vehicles you already have, or just get repairs.
Fastur is pretty much the only place west of the City of Cartoons where you can reliably buy newly made vehicles. In truth, the majority of "new" vehicles in Fastur are actually old vehicles that have been completely refurbished. However, some are actually new (though usually made out of refurbished parts). Vehicles produced in Fastur are generally much less sleek and refined than the fancy, computer-controlled sports cars made in the City of Cartoons. However, Fastur's vehicles are known to be functional, practical, and (mostly) dependable, even if not very pretty.
Fastur primarily produces ground vehicles, including civilian cars, trucks, and motorcycles, as well as more heavy-duty construction vehicles. However, they also produce the occasional light aircraft, but these are always special commissions.
