White River

The White River is one of the largest and longest rivers on the continent. It has its source somewhere far, far to the south of Taebur, perhaps in the vicinity of the fabled City of Eternal Rain, though this is nothing more than conjecture. In Taebur, it forms the eastern border of the region until it joins with the Blue River to form the Red River at the City of Cartoons.   Unlike the Red and Blue Rivers, the White River's name does not come from the literal colour of its water. However, the river has frequent regions of strong, fast-moving rapids that create large amounts of mist and white foam, which is what gives the river its name.   The White River is also considerably less deadly than the Red and Blue Rivers. However, that does not in any way mean it's safe. It may not be radioactive (most of the time), but its water is generally not safe for drinking or swimming in. Some relatively safe regions exist, but they are hard to tell from the unsafe areas and can't be relied upon to stay safe. Nevertheless, it is safer than many other parts of Taebur and so many communities exist along its western banks.

Ecosystem

The White River supports a thriving ecosystem. Numerous fish and water plants live in it, and all kinds of animals and plants live near it. Most of these plants and animals are mutants as the river's water often contains mutagens and other impurities; however, these mutants have adapted to life in and by the river.   It is generally not advisable to eat fish caught in the river, or even animals that drink regularly from the river. However, in a pinch, it will probably not be deadly to do so and will provide sustenance. It may just bring sickness and/or mutation with it as well.

Fauna & Flora

The banks of the White River are amongst the very few areas in Taebur where there are actual forests (albeit small ones) and arable land. Common plants include bamboo, banana, and rubber trees, as well as a tree with purple bark and pink flowers called the tamark. There are also areas of tall grasses, including grab grass.   Many animals reside near the White River as well. In particular, there are large numbers of antelope and monkeys. Although they are more common farther west, a significant number of giant lazzars reside here as well. Predators include cheetahs, leopards, and gators.
