Citadel

The Citadel was the starship the Githzherai of The Serene Host arrived on a hundred and twenty years ago. It long served as a mobile headquarters for the githzherai, and played a key role in the conflicts in the region for a near-century. Following the The Imperial-Akshusian War, the newly named anarch Madul chose to convert the Citadel into energy to be used by the githzherai in their duty to protect Akshus, thus giving up their chance to travel home to Limbo and comitting the githzherai to Akshus.

Purpose / Function

The Citadel was a voidship that traversed the astral sea to get to the material plane, and a warship that destroyed the Mind Flayer occupation in Akshus using its telekinetic weapons. It long served as the center of Githzherai power in Akshus, from where anarch Azarad led his people in the defence of Akshus. It served as the final bastion of hope and freedom in Akshus during the Imperial-Akshusian war, but has been converted into energy to be used by the wasuits of the Githzherai in defence of Akshus from monsters and extraterrestrial threats.

Alterations

When the Citadel was permanently grounded on Akshus, the anarch changed its form from a voidship to a fortress, creating high buttresses and sinking its roots deep into the ground. It resembled a tall futuristic castle reaching out from the ground, like the clawed hand of a gigantic chrome beast. Four tall towers reached up, like fingers, and glowed yellow, and from these telekinetic power could lash out if necessary. Once upon a time it was largely mechanized, with lifts, doors that would open automatically and zero-gravity rooms, but the anarch replaced these with analog solutions to conserve power.

Architecture

The citadel was a massive chrome building, with its pale outer surface reflecting sunlight and starlight. Yellow energy courses through it, granting illumination at night and power to its weapons, but in the day it was illuminated by sunlight reflected through it. It had large open spaces for training and tall halls, adorned with simple but elegant art in the form of vast geometric shapes that loop in on themselves in perpetuity and mathematical perfection.

Defenses

The Citadel was defended by the vast Telekinetic towers that were powerful enough to smash mountains, crush voidships or scatter armies. These telekinetic towers were controlled by the anarch, who perceived what happens outside the Citadel through its mindscape, which can see at both day and night but requires the concentration of the anarch, and power. To spare power, githzherai monks patrol the Citadel at all hours of the day, looking for enemies.
The Anarch could also use the ambient energy in the Citadel to send coruscating power against foes inside the fortress itself, though this had to be against targets he can see.
