Gith-mountains

The Gith Mountains is the mountain-range in the far south of Akshus. They are quite low mountains, but still difficult to navigate due to the many deep valleys, steep cliffs and ravines that crisscross the mountains, making them difficult to traverse on foot. The Gith mountains are filled with dozens of monasteries, hidden caves and bunkers from where the githzherai prosecute their guerilla war.
Clashes between the githzherai and imperial forces, primarily legionaries, are a daily occurrence in the mountains as the imperial army is trying to map the way to the Citadel and the Isle of Peace.

Geography

The Gith mountains are in theory quite a low mountain-range that one would think would be easy to navigate, but these mountains are divided by deep valleys, ravines and cliffs, making traversing them a nightmare. Technically a part of the long east Akshusian mountainchain, Azerheim, the Gith mountains are the southernmost peak of Akshus. The Gith mountains are poorly mapped by akshusian and imperial cartographers, as they have long been sacred to the githzherai and forbidden ground to outsiders. All that is known is that the githzherai have many monasteries and live in the south between missions.
These monasteries are an integral part of the githzherai culture in the area: part villages, part schools and part military installations, the gihtzherai live, work and train in these small fortresses. Some of these are large and obvious, carved with telekinetic power, to show an enemy the strength of the githzherai, but many more are small and hidden, connected together in underground networks to allow the githzherai to harass enemies and hide in their bunkers.

Ecosystem

The gith mountains are home to varied animals, including mountain goats, giant mountain goats, all manner of birds, as well as cave-dwelling creatures and earth elementals. In addition to these, hardy plants survive on the top of the mountains while the valleys hide old forrests.
