The Serene Host
The Serene Host is the githzherai military expedition who liberated Akshus from the illithids and which in the century since then has fought to protect Akshus from elementals, monsters and foreign invaders. It is currently the last remaining faction on the Akshusian side of the Akshus-Imperial War, but it is holding fast against imperial encroachments into its territory. It is led by anarch Azarad, the original commander who defeated the illithids.
Structure
The Serene Host is led by anarch Azarad, who has commanded the host since its planetfall in Akshus more than one hundred years ago. He is sustained by the limbo-matter of the Citadel, from where he leads the Serene host. The original warriors who came to Akshus with him have died since then, and the Host is today composed of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The anarch commands several enlightened, who serve as lietunants of the major points of Serene Host influence. When the war began there were five enlightened in Akshus, but that number has since been reduced to two, one of whom are currently captured by the Gold Empire while the other protects the Isle of Serenity.
Beneath the enlightened are the zerths, who serve as priest-commanders of the smaller monasteries around Akshus. Most of these have been killed in the war, with only a few remaining to hold the bunkers of the gith mountains against the imperial invaders.

Culture
The Serene Host believe profoundly in the power of self-sacrifice, and that they are the duty-bound to protect Akshus from all invaders as well as internal conflict. They gladly give their lives, and their deaths, in service of this noble goal. A few would say that they have lost sight of their true purpose, but the Serene Host follow their anarch into peace and war and trust in his judgement.

The Citadel is an astral ship and fortress and the greatest weapon of the Serene Host. With incredibly fast telekinetic movement, acrikinetic pylons and its sheer size, the Citadel rivals anything the Gold Empire can bring to bear and single-handedly destroyed most of the illithid armada during the Akshusian Uprising. It is a great adamantine construction, formed from the hardest metal in the Cosmos, and pulsating with the power of Limbo.

Akshus is dotted with githzherai monasteries which serve as repositories of knowledge, fortresses and bases of operation. Most of these have been lost to the war, but the Gith mountains are still populated with bunker-like monasteries that the githzherai and Gold Empire are fighting over.
