City of Statues
The City of Statues is one of Azzagrat's outposts in the material world, a grand conglomeration of spires, castles, cathedrals and parks open to the cold of the void, formed around a black pool that leads to Azzagrat. Kiera Stonegaze rules it from deep within its dead halls, from where she commands the legions of automatons and daemons that protect the black pool. The City of Statues was originally on the material plane, but Graz'zt teleported it to astral space as part of Azzagrat when Kiera finished her grand ritual to him.
While the City of Statues looks like a cold and dead place, it is populated by thousands and thousands of statues, the innocents of the city locked in a pantomime of living in a bustling city by the will of Kiera Stonegaze. These statues laugh silently at unspoken jokes, eat food that has never been anything but dust and look up at the sky for a sun that dissappeared millenia ago. Stonegaze obsessively changes their position to find a more perfect scene to play out, but is never fully satisfied with the fruit of her labors. Any who try to infiltrate the City must beware the statues, as their grey eyes and dead minds are slaved to Stonegaze, and they move silently out of the corner of one's eye.
In addition to the statues there are the daemonic legions of the City, creatures of darkness that slither, crawl and fly through the freakishly populated streets. These mostly spend their time near the core of the city, where spires have been toppled to make space for starports and the starships of the graztian fleet.
