Judgement Report
General Summary
The Loose Cannons spent a couple of weeks after the fight with Emilie doing chores around Ravå and Grandal. Friedrich spent a week crafting an immaculate Gem of Elemental Air, using the heart of the Air Myrmidon the Loose Cannons encountered in Stormfall, and spent the next week working with Elizabet to create a system of alarms to warn them if anyone should attempt to attack them. He also felt that his old scar had grown further, now burning with a dark inner light. Gorm spent a week gambling in a high-stakes game with Maelfreda, Jamuqa Besut of the Yellow Order, Holgar Andersen and several other yellow alchemists, earning a great deal of money and standing amongst the higher social class of Ravå, and he spent the second week spending his earnings on a suit of armor for Ruth. Ruth for her part spent time in the woods, praying to Fíaglasir. She also sent a letter to father Ezekiel Falch, now that news had arrived that he was travelling south with an army. Kuzuha spent the first week asking around regarding the dreaded poison Veinrot, discovering that it had not been used in East Sceya, but that there had been several outbreaks in her western homeland of the Duchy of the Wetlands some hundred years ago. Long enough for the horror to be forgotten by men, but not long enough that it could be the product of her work. She concluded that the vampires of Herregaard Hviid had been experimenting for centuries, trying to recreate veinrot's dread power, and sought out her god in the darkness of the forest.
Zuggtmoy explained that she had not blessed the vampires with the divine knowledge she had invested in Kuzuha all those millenia ago, but that they were experimenting of their own accord, trying to gain a deeper power over something they could not controll. She gave Kuzuha an idea for a rotten herbicide, which would turn the dreadful dead totem of the vampires' power, their Gulthias tree, into a scarlet altar to her own glorious rot. It would require a strong deathroot to create the herbicide, and the closer they could plant it to the core of the Gulthias tree the better, as it would allow her more influence and more mass to subsume into herself.
Kuzuha spent the second week crafting scrolls to be used to heal the party, and during this week she was contacted by her child through her dreams. Synce told Kuzuha about their frustrations in the west, where Deidre was becoming more withdrawn as he saw more visions of a difficult future, and the Damatír were growing restless, with several joining the reckless and independent thane Eamhón for his attack on the Company and Ravå. Synce was debating travelling east and knocking some sense into Eamhón, but when Kuzuha explained that there was a team of Akshusian Night Owls ready to assassinate her, Kuzuha managed to convince them to send someone else. Synce decided to send thane Inghéan instead, as she was respected among the Damatír and the best bet to convince Eamhón to not attack Ravå. When Synce left the dream, Zuggtmoy kept Kuzuha within her embrace, as she showed her devotee what would become of Synce should they not accept the scarlet gift of the rot. Kuzuha saw Synce defeated and on their knees before a tall dark-skinned elf with golden eyes who wielded a massive executioner's greatsword, and Kuzuha looked on in horror as Synce's head was separated from their body. Despite this terrifying sight, Kuzuha was yet resolved to not following Zuggtmoy's suggestion that she should push Synce into accepting the power within them, even if this inaction would cost Synce their life.
After these two weeks, the party travelled with silver marshals Ruzzik Tanin and Martin Hard north of Grandal, preparing to intercept a convoy of Company carriages carrying the mycaweed. Before the journey, the silver marshals and the Loose Cannons discussed how they should go about retrieving the mycaweed. The Silver Marshals were divided here, with Martin wishing to use their authority as Silver Marshals to order the carriages to stop and search them, while Rust was worried that the Companists would open fire immediately as they were outside their jursdiction, and that it would be better to attack the Companists first and gain the upper hand. The Loose Cannons discussed this, and they ended up with a compromise: Friedrich, Martin and Ruth would block the road and order the Companists to stand down, Martin and Ruth with their authorities as Silver Marshal and Peacekeeper respectively, while both Martin and Friedrich could use their magic to make the Companists stand down without a shot fired, while the rest of the party waited in ambush nearby should the situation escalate.
All were in agreement however, that no Companists could be allowed to reach Ravå, lest the East Sceyan Trading Company discover the duplicity of the Loose Cannons.
Privately, the Loose Cannons agreed on aiding Goldmask in his purge of the ancient catacombs beneath Ravå, if he would send one of his amber elf scouts to investigate the current status of Vidå for brother Kirikian.
The Loose Cannons left Grandal on the road toward Østerbred on the 19th of Eorikc, hoping to intercept the convoy on the 21st. On their first day of travelling north, they came across the current construction site of the railway, where the Høghammer Jernbane Selskap had come under attack the night before by a Hill Giant. They offered to pay the Loose Cannons 50 GP each for the death of the Hill Giant, which they accepted. They succesfully tracked the Hill Giant to an abandoned Faordaon hamlet, where they ambushed the Hill Giant and its Mud Hulk friend, killing them without taking any damage themselves. Ruth used her Javelin of Lightning to devastating effect on the Hill Giant, while Friedrich had attuned with auran powers allowing him to glide through the air and strike with stunning strength, while Kuzuha and Gorm both fired their magic from afar, bringing the monsters down.
