Al Zahar

Al Zahar is the capital of Zul Garahn and the home of the Sultana. It is called Al Zahar as it translates from Nyan'hari to mean "Gleaming", leading to its reputation as the Gem of the Desert. It has bustling markets where exotic goods are traded and haggled for, and a large port where those goods are imported and exported.
The city itself is built within an oasis along the coast, and is one of the rare places one can see trees and vegetation within the harsh environment of the Im'hara Desert.
The city sits in the shadow of a giant rock archway, atop of which sits Chai'tani Palace, the home of Sultana Thessaly Zubiria. The nobles of Al Zahar and the servants of the Sultana live in houses along the side of the massive natural rock face.

Demographics

Al Zahar is a port city, and as such has a population of much variety. The most prevalent demographic is Nyan'hari, but there are smaller populations of Aarokocra, Loxodon, Tortle, Yuan-ti, Genasi and Humans as well.

Industry & Trade

The city of Al Zahar is a massive trade titan. This is primarily due to the Golden Scale Trading Company, which was founded within the city walls and operates out of it. Beyond the Golden Scales, many merchants flock to the Gem in the Desert to hawk their wares and obtain rare goods.
The spice markets of Al Zahar sell rare ingredients for refined tastes, the rug markets sell the finest of carpets and tapestries for nobles to adorn their homes.
