Having fought a bloody battle through the streets of Bayglen ser Tyon Cray's armies finally reunited on The Royal Lawn.

As they rode toward the Castle a single knight rode to meet them. Ser Emely Leonine offered to duel ser Tyon - if he won, she would have the guards stand down and permit Tyon's forces to enter the castle peacefully. If she won however the attackers would quit the city. Tyon agreed to these terms.

The two knights fought a bloody bout, but eventually ser Emely yielded to Tyon. However the castle's defenders had no intention of allowing the knights' terms to pass, unleashing a volley of fire from the Trebuchets mounted on the walls which killed ser Emely, as well as some of the attacking forces including Arthur, the Spire Advisor to House Winthrop of Hess Hall.

The attacking forces fell back to the edge of the Lawn, where they erected a siege camp amongst the houses and business there, including Terin Foxworth's home in the capital.
