Hope is in the air for the quiet of peace in every land and merchants speak of prosperity through trade, but the undercurrent of guile and deceit is never far away. Dark intentions rule the night as shadowy figures meet in secret places where vile schemes and plots are hatched to take advantage of the uneasy accords the powers-that-be contrive with goodwill and virtuous intentions. And there are rumors of a terrible plague known as the Red Death sweeping onto the continent from the west . . .
The epicenter of what will be and in whose hands power will ultimately rest is the Free City of Greyhawk. Here, the adventurers begin their journey of exploration and discovery. A dance between making the right choices and fate that will guide their ascent . . .or leave them in the dust of obscurity.
The city and its lands lie in the heart of civilized Oerth. To the east, the barren slopes of the mysterious Cairn Hills loom within sight of the high walls. In the west, the placid expanse of the great Selintan River meanders past Greyhawk's bustling wharf region, giving the city its primary claim to strategic significance, for it lays along that waterway between the great lake of the Nyr Dyv to the north and the broad surface of Wooly Bay and the Azure Sea to the south.
The city beckons, from the darkest alleys and fetid cellars of the Old City, along the alabaster spires of temples and universities lining the great length of the Processional, to the regal grandeur of the High Quarter and the looming towers of the Grand Citadel beyond. Greyhawk, grandest jewel of the Flanaess, awaits, offering adventures to stagger the imagination, treasures beyond your wildest dreams - and of course, dangers aplenty.
Prepare to delve into a world of imagination as conceived by the founders of Dungeons and Dragons, E. Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, in the first world that would become the launching pad for so many more plus three generations of devoted followers.
