Temple-Library of MagePoint

Dedicated to several neutral deities of knowledge, the Temple-Library is a hub of knowledge on nearly anything one could care to know.   Its shelves house more than 10,000 volumes of arcane and historical lore. Visitors can also find shrines to various knowledge deities around the shrine. Visitors use the library as much to request aid or express thanks to these gods as for the more tangible resources.   A week's pass to use the library costs only 10 gp.

Architecture

The library is a three-story building, wrapped on every level by balconies. Plenty of tall, triangular windows let light in between the sliding doors. The building itself is set apart from the surrounding town by a courtyard contained with a low fence, where a botanical garden thrives around winding walking paths.

1st Floor - Political & Natural History

The first floor of the library contains histories from as many perspectives as there have been Great Folk of the realms. Treatises on politics and law are in this section, as well.   Along with these, the first level houses geographical information. Visitors can find recent maps of various areas of the Flanaess, as well as original maps from the Great Migration, hundreds of years ago. Celestian, god of stars and wanderers has a shrine on this level, arranged near a broad wall map where visitors can mark their homelands. Only a handful of remote locations are unmarked.   Lastly, the ground level has several doorways into the botanical garden that surrounds the library. Books on botany are arranged near the doors. Beory has a shrine within the gardens, and the library maintains several live samples of both local and exotic plant life.

2nd Floor - Arts & Science

Ascending to the second level, visitors will find explorations of the world's natural orders. St. Cuthbert, whose portfolio includes reason and sense, has a shrine here, surrounded by bestiaries and catalogs of information on every animal and mineral known to the Flanaess. Vegetative data being regulated to the botanical gardens on the first floor.   Great literature and other artistic endeavours are also held and cataloged on this floor, though they occupy a smaller area relative to more "scientific" studies.

3rd Floor - Arcane Pursuits

Appropriately for a town that takes its namesake from a great magician, matters of the arcane occupy an entire floor of the library. The centre of the third floor contains a raised observation area with a domed, glass roof and an excellent telescope. Divination practices and books of prophecy are arranged in a ring around this platform, and Istus, god of fate and destiny, has a shrine here.   The rest of the third floor is divided between the other schools of spellcraft. The library does not stock scrolls or spellbooks for the safety of its patrons, but learned wizards can learn all they need to create their own with the information stored here.   Biographies of great wizards and histories of arcane events such as the Twin Cataclysms are also on this floor.   Design Inspiration: Taipei Library
