Blue Reapers

The Blue Reapers were a company of Soulforged soldiers that fought during the Ontalian War on behalf of the Nelevari Dominion.
Born from the earliest generations of their kind and imbued with unbridled magic, the Reapers quickly became an omen of destruction when they arrived. Named for their eerie blue aura when casting spells, the Reapers were employed as an elite arcane strike force on the frontlines of the war. Highly resilient to magic, equipped with powerful conjuration spells, and enchanted with armor impervious to most things, these warriors possessed the power to turn the tides of any battle, no matter the number. Their enemies quickly grew to fear them and their effectiveness. The Blue Reapers' excellence in killing earned them a spot on the frontlines where fighting was fiercest. They were deployed to be the finishing force in Nytheris.
Initially, the Reapers were extremely successful and pushed back the forces of Nytheris with deadly efficiency. Then, suddenly, they stopped the offensive and disappeared. While their magic was traceable by the Nelevar wizards, the entire company had suddenly gone quiet, not a single spell cast. This action largely halted the campaign east of the Sylethal River and caused panic amongst the generals of Nelevar that their most effective soldiers could suddenly just quit. Some even reported that the Reapers were fighting Nelevari troops. While this event remained known only to the generals for about 6 months, eventually news broke about the legendary Reapers going missing or rogue.
This news served to fuel the fire of the heated political environment of Nelevar concerning their use of the Soulforged as soldiers and slaves. A religious sect began to form amongst the Soulforged, what would later become the The Azureclast Host, who touted the Reapers as a symbol of resistance for other Soulforged. Nelevar, worried other uprisings may occur, attempted to quietly eliminate the rebelling Reapers and any other sympathizing Soulforged. Nelevar killed many of their own Soulforged, including a few of the Reapers, but they could not keep the event secretive, and soon a full-scale civil war broke out among the ranks of the Nelevari Armies. This was the first Soulforged rebellion.
Nearly 4 years later, the Ontalian War ended and Nytheris was absorbed into the Dominion, but there was still no sign of the Blue Reapers. Though they had not directly participated in the first Rebellion, Nelevar wanted their most advanced soldiers under their control or dead. They issued large bounties and sent large contingents of soldiers throughout the area seeking to round up but had little luck.
As a result of the First and Second Soulforged Rebellion and the changes spawned from them, no Soulforged were ever created again with the same capabilities and strength of the Blue Reapers. The legacy and mystery surrounding their sudden desertion remains a topic of debate amongst historians. Some believe most shifted to an entirely different plane of existence, perhaps of not intending to light the spark of rebellion at all. Others believe that they remain extremely well hidden and have blended back into society as Soulforged became more socially accepted.
