Craigalyne
Craigalyne is a Froslak kingdom in Dalashiel, located on the southwest coast of the continent. It is the smallest and least populated of the four Froslak kingdoms, controlling less than a quarter of the continent. It's territory is mostly made up of frigid grasslands and mountainous crags, with only a small tract of arable land in the nation's northern regions. Craigalyne has existed for millennia, having been formed thousands of years prior to the wellspring along with the other kingdoms in Dalashiel. Craigalyne's poor geographic situation and lack of natural resources has led it to fall behind many of its neighbors, causing resentment between the kingdom and its neighbors. Many conflicts have been fought between Craigalyne and its neighbors, primarily Kinlochan. This is due to Kinlochan having access to a fertile river delta and large swathes of arable land. Generally, Craigalyne is known to be a far more aggressive and antagonistic kingdom than its neighbors, often starting conflicts with kingdoms overseas and partaking in piracy along major trade routes.
High Chief Pavel Snowmark currently rules over Craigalyne. Craigalyne is the ancestral homeland of clan Snowmark, the clan which nearly all of Craigalyne's subjects are descended from. High Chiefs from various houses within Clan Snowmark have always reigned over Craigalyne, though the past few centuries have been dominated by House Whiteroar. Pavel Snowmark is the latest from this lineage of Whiteroar rulers, having inherited the throne just under a year prior. He is largely seen as a reasonable man, but he has only ruled for a year and his true nature as High Chief is largely unknown. There have been signs of tensions rising between House Whiteroar and some other noble lineages, with word of unrest and planned revolution spreading around the kingdom's underground communities. Nevertheless, Craigalyne has remained in a largely calm state under Pavel's rule so far. Similar to recent events in Colblane, strange and paranormal occurrences have begun to plague the rural regions of Craigalyne, causing panic, largely due to the superstitious nature of the Froslak people.
Craigalyne is mostly made up of Froslak peoples, with a few of its ports having enclaves of Utor and Naadi merchants. Additionally, many goblin and hobgoblins live in Craigalyne as well. Nearly all of its native inhabitants are members of Clan Snowmark due to Craigalyne being said clan's homeland. Due to the largely frigid and inhospitable nature of the kingdom's territory, population is clustered around a few regions. The vast majority of the nation's people live near the northern border as that is where most of Craigalyne's arable land is located. Other population centers include ports along the eastern coast and a few townships near the southern coast.
