Kinlochan
Kinlochan is a populous yet small nation in the south of Dalashiel. It is one of the four Froslak kingdoms of Dalashiel, and, like the others, has existed on the continent for millennia. It lies in a fertile river valley in the central and southern regions of the continent, packed with tracts of arable land and filled with dense forests and resource rich hills. Kinlochan is a peaceful kingdom, having existed with largely the same territory since its formation thousands of years ago, with the only changes to its territory being territorial losses as a result of lost wars or deals with neighboring kingdoms. For example, the region around the northern tributaries of the Vjil River was given to Duninthoul in exchange for allowing Kinlochan trade guilds to set up mining companies throughout Dunithoul's mountainous interior. Kinlochan has little interaction with the world outside of Dalashiel, not lying on or taking part in any major maritime routes and only trading with Colblane and Duninthoul. There are some Kinlochan ports that facilitate trade between the eastern coast of the Kich Mepyukk and kingdoms such as Thecedor or Auchnavar, though even this trade is largely controlled by Craigalyne or Colblane.
Kinlochan's current High Chief is Pommel Boulderbrook, a Froslak noble belonging to House Skullbrow of Clan Boulderbrook. As with most Froslak High Chiefs, he took the name of the kingdom's predominant clan upon taking the throne, changing his surname from Skullbrow to Boulderbrook in an act of solidarity with the various houses of the clan. This was especially important for Pommel as he had taken the throne only after a civil war between House Skullbrow and the previous rulers of Kinlochan, House Sternrock. The war was short and largely bloodless as House Sternrock was unpopular and was largely seen as being too stagnant and scared of change or progress in the eyes of the Kinlochan people. House Skullbrow had always been more popular among the people, largely due to its historic rule of Kinlochan centuries ago, and the promises of Pommel appealed to many within the kingdom who wanted to see Kinlochan grow and prosper.
The vast majority of Kinlochan's people are Froslak in birth. There are few non Froslak humans in Kinlochan, but the kingdom is also home to many goblins, vulbites, and hobgoblins who live among the Froslakian society. Kinlochan is a populous kingdom, with major population centers being spread all around the Vjil River and along its tributaries, with rural communities maximizing their use of the kingdom's large tracts of arable land. The dense forests on the kingdom's hilly borders with Colblane and Craigalyne are far more sparsely populated but are still home to the occasional village or lumber mill. Kinlochan's capital is on the southern coast and is the only major trade port in the kingdom.
