Heaven's Path

Month 1, Day 2, 2 RE

Fiction IS beautiful, and that's why we play Dungeons and Dragons. This heartful pop song sung by the icon Miss Hatsune Miku reflects everything I love about being both a creative and a consumer.   This song is my all-time favorite. Not only is it a hyperpop banger - one of the late SOPHIE's many - it is also THE queer anthem for me. Immateriality is about embracing your body, your physical form, and thriving in its endless possibility, its constant fluidity.
I can be anything I want, anyhow, any place, anywhere, anyone. Any form, any shape, anyway, anything, anything I want.
Whilst Okami is a purely Japanese game and my world is based off of medieval China, that doesn't mean I can't take inspiration from both for my entirely fictional world. I'll elaborate more on how Okami influenced the creation of Tian Wu Yan in a later section, but for now, enjoy this epic tune from one of the best games ever made.   Dynasty by Rina Sawayama is the rock ballad of my life as a queer Chinese-American son of immigrants. I cannot deny that I pull a lot of emotional and cultural threads from my own lived experiences when making this world. And that includes the drag aspect of this video in question, as deconstructing the gender binary is what I live for.
Dynasty, the pain in my vein is hereditary. Dynasty, running in my bloodstream, my bloodstream. Dynasty, and if that's all that I'm gonna be. Won't you break the chain with me?
If my campaign were to be a video game, I'd want it to be like Pyre. Perhaps not with the ball throwing and the banishing, but with the memorable characters, gripping storyline and high stakes (that don't necessarily revolve around death). Pyre was my game of quarantine, and part of its power lies in its music. And my goodness, what wonderful music it is.
