Drak Mountains

The Drak mountains are technically considered to be part of the Frias region, though in truth neither the mountains nor the people living within them have ever been under their sway. The Drak mountains, are a series of mountains forming a grand massif, known by the locals as Shakaz-Arn(Forge Fire), this creates massif can often be seen smoking as if a massive volcano stirred within it, but to locals, it is the home of their god.   Around this central massif are great soaring cliffsides, and alpine mountain tops where only the hardiest roots may grow, to the lower foothills, where hardy trees sparingly dot the landscape, yet these trees are amongst the people's major food supply, growing the highly-priced Drak Grapes, 3 great valleys can be found, the only places where fertile grazing can be found, and where the locals produce some meager produce, for little life exists within the Drak Mountains, the locals mainly sustain themselves on hunting bird and dangerous foraging from climbing the great peaks.   Along the lower slopes in the great valleys, one will find houses nestling into plateaus and nooks of the mountain slopes, and what meager farming can be used here, as one descends further down the slopes the climate shifted and changes, meaning that each of the small farming communities that can make does, grow radically different things, with does furthest down able to grow rice and rye, and further up hardier stock like barley and beets and harsh root vegetable. Though the majority of their food does originate from husbandry.   Famous for its deep ore veins, the Drak mountains are dreams of many different companies and guilds seeking to exploit its plentitude of valuable ores.   Locations of Interest Suthamar(God Mountain): At the center is the great massif, called mount drak by outsiders, but known as suthamar by the locals, it’s a great and towering mountain that reaches for the very heavens, and at its peak is a great rift from which dark smoke rises always. A slumbering volcano, or the forge of a god, perhaps both. At its foot lies the only great city in the mountains, it is a holy place, a place of gathering and worship of the great forge god, of the great farther god. A place of beautiful craftsmanship, in great contrast to the rest of the mountains
