Eric was never destined for the throne, some of his decenters whisper, for he was by no means next in line for the throne, only a long series of horrible events saw the young Eric become next in line, the death of his eldest brother at the outbreak of the third Norak war, the assassination of his heir Frederik and the loss of his younger brother Arne at sea, and to many, he was never properly raised or trained for such a role.
A war veteran Eric earned the respect of the army during the closing years of the third Norak war, a fact that secured him the throne, when he returned home from the war, the message was clear he would have the throne, by the degree of his father and by the might of his men. Though a turbulent start to his reign, Eric has proven an apt leader to many, keenly aware of the fractured state of his realm, and has gone through great lengths to placate the barons and strengthen his grasp in the realm and restore peace and order.
Eric is ostensibly a man of great calm and dignity, always carrying himself in a regal manner, a solid anchor in any storm unmoved by petty slight. Eric is a cautious man, deliberate with words, ponderous, and slow to action.
