Mobile-Exoskeletal Suits
Mobile-Exoskeletal Suits, also known as ME suits are a popular form of transportation in low gravity environments. They are more agile, able to traverse more extreme environments as compared to wheeled or treaded vehicles, a key factor in exploring the unknown. While not as effective in sustained combat, a ME Suit is rarely found in one. In wars, they serve better as all-terrain scouts or as an element of surprise.
After the end of The Exodus, ME Suits lost most of their popularity as people begin to settle down in gigantic space stations floating around planets. However, their popularity remained with explorers who utilize them to transport resources in and out of dangerous asteroids and low-gravity planets.
Newer models of ME Suits have been modified to withstand both high and low temperature extremes. They are also environmentally isolated, able to operate in both the vacuum of space and deep oceans. They are equipped with powerful thrusters. While unable to fly on any planet, they can operate in space without additional equipment. When operating planetside, the thrusters allow ME suits to jump incredible heights and fall from hundreds of meters without taking damage.
History
A human-sized exoskeletal suit for space exploration was first developed by the old United States of America in the early 21st century. However, it has proved to be of little use commercially due to its high price and lack of defences against basic space hazards like micrometeorites. A multi-million dollar suit can be easily taken down by an unlucky impact anywhere in its mechanical systems. Larger suits not limited by human physiology were deemed to be the obvious solution. Even though ME suits have lost their humanoid form, the moniker of "suits" stuck.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
