Oil Impressionism - the Seven-half Majestic Pillars - Cleris Dumont 829AP
Formation:
Before the Guild's inception, Wizards were seen as idiotic, dangerous fools who would cast spells in public without considering the consequences of their actions. The
City Watch were kept busy incarcerating irresponsible wizards until the
The Queen called a decree stopping the use of magic in public - effectively ending the Wizard profession.
Half a century later (738 AP) a powerful wizard, Malfus the Mighty, surfaced with the goal of gaining respect for his profession once more. He formed a group comprising the most formidable (non-imprisoned) Imperial Wizards to represent a united front. Other wizards from all over Tenglan noticed and applied to join. A dozen years later in 750, Malfus had enough members to justify forming the Wizard Guild and so built his masterpiece - The 8 Majestic Pillars; The Wizard Guild Headquarters located in
Imperias City.
Soon after, he presented the Queen with a proposal. If she would rescind the ban on public spellcasting, he would convince his Guild members to act more responsibly. Her Majesty agreed with only sanctioned guild wizards be allowed to activate their magic in front of spectators.
Nowadays, Imperial adults tolerate spellcasters, albeit from a safe distance. Kids, however, love wizards due to their magical ability to pull chocolates from any pocket in existence.
Wizards and other Races:
Each of the other 3 major races has different names for a Wizard despite the role being almost identical. The
Fein call them Elder-Sorcerers, The
Riktus know them as Shamen and the
Ofrak as warlocks.
The Gender Divide:
Within the Imperial ranks, Wizards used to be primarily men, but with the introduction of the Warzards (see below) and the development of youth training academies, the percentage of females joining the Guild has increased. Estimations say the ratio is now around 60% men and 40% Women - a figure narrowing yearly.
More about their Leader:
Malfus appears ageless. Records indicate he has lived longer than even King Blake Travestus, who lasted 194 years. Trevestus's extended life duration is attributed to his prolonged exposure to the Immortal Queen and her life-giving essence. However I cannot find any reason for Malfus's increased life duration, which concerns me.
The Guild leader has already tried to get his organisation entrance into the
The Three Powers with the Queen refusing all his requests but if he succeeds, then we are handing over a huge chunk of power to someone we don't know anything about.
My words risk receiving a blackmark from the vindictive Wizard, but until people have the courage to delve into his past, I do not trust him, and my instincts tell me he is a dangerous being with a hidden agenda.
Absent-minded destruction:
777 AP, a bumbling wizard called Ransy experiments with an indestructible potion and accidentally blows up part of the Wizard Guild. The Guild HQ must be renamed to Seven-half Majestic Pillars after failed attempts to remove one of the half-destroyed pillars. (Due to Ransy's explosion making it indestructible!)
A furious Malfus places a
blackmark on Ransy's head, but despite the Merc Guild's finest efforts, the ageing wizard defies belief by surviving all attempts made on his life with assassins simply disappearing forever. A mystery, for he hasn't even tried to hide his presence living in plain sight at
Slivers balt shop. Yet, over half a century later, the blackmark remains to be claimed. Something beyond magic must exist in that shop, for Ransy alone could not keep the ruthless merc guild at bay.
Glove Power:
Each wizard has their own self-made wooden staff that glows the same colour as their matching glove and hat. Although the hat functions as a cosmetic luxury, the glove provides a vital role for all spellcasters - If a Wizard hopes to retain his Guild status, Malfus has made it mandatory that all spells must be conducted with a staff and glove working in tandem.
I have several Guild friends who inform me the glove amplifies the essence contained within a staff, providing two benefits - greater control and increased spell duration.

Magic vs Sorce:
People often don't understand the difference and believe Wizards are powerful
Sorce Abilities users. This is wrong. Sorce abilities are gained at birth when your soul is infused with a powerful gift of light from the
White Lord. (And the reason these individuals are called the blessed).
Except for Malfus and a few others, wizards are not blessed. Instead, they benefit from the
The Lord's Essence by infusing it into everyday objects to create
'magical' items. The most obvious example relates to their staff and the matching glove they wear. By channelling essence into these objects, the wizards can access abundant essence to activate their book-learned spells.
Catering for the Public:
Wizard shops:
The well-stocked wizard shop here can be found in Imperias City next to their Majestic Pillars headquarters.
It is not just Wizards who can access these wonderful items but also the public. Every Tenglan city has an official Wizard-sanctioned shop located next to the city's respective Wizard Guild Palace.
Items to buy:
Anyone can purchase various essence-infused potions offering temporary one-off effects. The most popular include increased strength / enhanced stamina / face morphing / changing one's voice / increased luck, and plenty more.
For the wealthy, who want more than just a one-off potion, they can also purchase items or devices from invisibility cloaks to glow in the dark clothes for costume parties. Second-hand magical hats and gloves offering various unique effects are also popular items.
Warzards:

Posing for our pictures, we have Celine Masters - senior Warzard, deadly with or without her multipurpose weapon.
Warrior Wizards (Warzards) are female supreme fighters who protect the wizards. Proficient in long-range magical powers fired from their modified staff and experts in hand-to-hand combat.
All Warzards have access to
Aurae Abilities and combined with their close-combat expertise places them firmly in the elite bracket of Lendorian warriors. Some say even on par with the best of the Queen's
The Royal Guard,
King Ganay's Elista Guard or the Church's
Purity Knights.
Warzards are respected and feared in equal measure, with most Imperials sprinting across the streets if they see one approaching. This is not only due to their fearsome presence but because of their unique ability to suck any surrounding essence into their core, stopping those nearby from receiving the Lord's mist - An essential skill to stop their enemies from feeding Aura abilities.
Multi-purpose weapon:
by Rastamust the Vanquisher
A warzard's staff head can fan out and magically harden to become an intestine-opening bladed weapon or can be closed to land heavy concussive blows.
by Rastamust the Vanquisher
Even the handled end of their weapon can puncture body parts, and Celine Masters is always eager to try it out.
