Lady Luck Casino

Purpose / Function

The Lady Luck Casino serves patrons from far and wide. It caters especially to tourists who are drawn to other sights in the local area, such as the seaside resorts, the Temple of Fortune, and the offshore nature preserve. The casino also includes a hotel, restaurants, and shops.

Architecture

The casino has an overall classic Freehaven architecture of spacious solarpunk design with elements of Earth casinos, notably those of Las Vegas. It has bright lighting, huge interior spaces, and atriums filled with trees and gardens. To honor the goddess Fortune, the casino has many ancient Roman and Greek architectural details, such as columns and statuary. There are also numerous shrines and chapels dedicated to the goddess located throughout the casino.

History

The casino was originally built in the 25th century, getting its start as a hotel with dedicated gambling lounges. It was one of many hotels that appeared in Dioniseed to cater to the growing tourism industry. The casino expanded and eventually became a tourist attraction in its own right. The current building was constructed in the 26th century. With the ongoing Interstellar Civil War, Freehaven remains a secure planet far removed from the conflict and is also the home of a growing military presence, so the casino has benefited from increased travel through the system.

Tourism

Tourists come from all over to visit the casino. Many of the tourists are Freehaven locals. Others are military personnel, freighter crews, or merchants who stop for a visit during layovers at the space station. While not unheard of, interstellar tourism is rare due to the expense and time involved. However, Freehaven is one of the more popular destinations for interstellar tourists, as it has numerous draws: native ecosystems, mild temperatures, oceanside resorts, large cities, and beautiful temples. The casino has many hotel rooms for tourists to stay in.
