Kucura

The blizzard was in full force. Hugaurd couldn't see the rest of his team when he looked back. He hoped their sled dogs still had his scent and could follow without vision. Rose would kill him if her little brother never made it home. He had confidence his team would be close behind.   Hugaurd ushered the dogs forward. He was headed to a rocky area near the Steam Fields that they had surveyed with long uses of Arcane Eye. Whenever they entered the region their spell would end. It was known that the Line of Fire and Lightning was also an anti-magic zone. That just meant they couldn't rely on using magic to explore the surveyed area.   They were only one day out when Huguard and his team departed that day. He was eager to make it to the site, having spent several months in a camp near the ocean eating fish and the occasional seal. Every day spent surveying the outer edges of the Line. His colleges back in Neflia thought this was a fruitless endeavor. Everyone assumed beyond the Line was nothing but a wasteland of wild and anti-magic zones. Hugaurd believed differently.   An hour of riding passed. Hugaurd's excitement rose with each passing minute. At last, he arrived at the rocky outcropping. Behind the outcropping was a deep valley, at the bottom was a body of water with steam coming off of it. The blizzard here was stronger. Hugaurd ushered his dog sled toward the outcropping.   As Hugaurd approached his greatest hope took form. A cave. Hugaurd's mission was to find a way beyond the Line of Fire and Lightning and into the Forgotten Zone. He stopped the dogs, got off and headed toward the cave.   The inside of the cave muffled the outside winds. Hugaurd worried about the dogs, but he had to inspect the cave before he could bring them inside. The walls were made of melted stone. It could have been formed from volcanic activity. He was confident it wasn't a Remorhaz since it was originally solid stone.   As Hugaurd went deeper, the air around him became much warmer. He heard the sound of trickling water. Soon he felt steam. It was too late. Erupting from the wall was a worm made of stone. Glowing red stone could be seen under the plates that made its segments. It latched onto Hugaurd with its jaws. It immediately seared the flesh, burning completely through the coat Hugaurd wore.   Hugard yanked at the worm, pulling it from his shoulder. He soon noticed the walls getting red hot. Hugaurd leapt from his location, just as more of the lava worms erupted from the wall and latching to where he was. He ran from the cave. They didn't follow him. He went to his sled, but he collapsed before he could make it. Before he passed into unconsciousness, he hoped that his team would find him.

Geography

Kucura is a land of ice and snow. However, it is divided by the Line of Fire and Lightning with a region that is a boiling sea and volcanic activity. This region is also covered in constant storms. This region is known as the Steam Fields and is incredibly deadly to wander through. Explorer's outside of the Forgotten Zone have been attempting to use Kucura as an avenue to explore within the Forgotten Zone.

Fauna & Flora

There is no known flora that exists in the Kucura outside of its oceans. The fauna in the region feeds off of fish that near the warmer waters that flow out of the Steam Fields. This ranged from penguins, seals, and polar bears. A few creatures live closer to the Steam Fields, like the incredibly dangerous Remorhaz which burrows in the ice, using specialize heat glands to melt tunnels. Steam Elementals also form near the Steam Fields, along with Air Elementals that roam the central regions of Kucura.
