The Sea of Shards

Geography

The Sea of Shards is a massive archipelago that spans across the ocean between Neflia and Southern Noshotan. There are two main parts of the Sea of Shards, that is the Oversea and the Undersea.    The islands across the Sea of Shards are diverse in their ecology. The further south the colder the islands get, including the stormy island of Crognea with the northern most islands are tropical. It is said that sailing across the Sea of Shards is living a life where there is always something to new learn.    Undersea has an even more diverse amount of flora and fauna. Several hundred-mile stretches of coral reefs host a diverse amount of life. Many undersea cities find their place on the ocean floor and trading with those in the Oversea. Several trenches run through the Sea of Shards, the deepest being the trench near Neflia and stretching up to the Line of Fire and Lightning beyond the trench is a territory very hostile to most peoples.   The trenches hold dark cities with people who rarely see sunlight. Many see it as the equivalent to the underground cities in the Oversea.

Fauna & Flora

Between the diverse climate of islands in the Oversea there is a huge amount of variety in plant and animal life. Underwater hosts even more diverse flora and fauna. Every kind of fish or sea plant known has been seen in the Sea of Shards. It has hosted a very popular cooking place because of the wide variety of ingredients. This also is a very dangerous venture as many plants and animals are poisonous and venomous.   The depths don't come without their own terrors however. Several sea monsters have been seen or have legends of. It has created a fear of the deep and for some, a fear of water. In the Oversea monsters lurk on the islands. Either through dark portals or cast off on the sea. Lairs can be found on numerous islands which hold treasures and dangers alike.

Natural Resources

There is no material that cannot be found somewhere in the Sea of Shards. From iron mines in the north to seaweed farms in the Undersea reefs. Cartographers across the Sea of Shards are constantly looking to improve their maps with locations of natural resources. This has lead to the pressure from the Neflia Navy and Southern Noshotan.

Tourism

The Sea of Shards has an incredibly successful traveling industry. Some cities are specifically designed as getaway paradises. Several hold homes of the richest in the world and see the most amount of travel. These cities generate an enormous amount of wealth.

The Sea of Shards sounds like such an interesting location. I love that it has such a diverse variety of materials and peoples as well as flora and fauna. The deep trench cities in particular sound fascinating. :)
