Duufaan, The Orphan of Tempest (Doo-faan)

The Orphan of Tempest

Duufaan is the 3rd youngest sibling of The 8 Orphans, a group of deities mainly worshiped within The Five Kingdoms of Man. Despite being one of the youngest she is by no means the weakest. Representing the domain of tempest and order her portfolio includes: Law, Government, Just Authority, Hierarchy and Nomidians. Duufaan is commonly depicted as a muscular woman with orderly braided white hair, a plate mail dress with metal gorget, and plated gloves. Her right gauntlet is often larger than her left and sparking with lightning. It is said that before Duufaan's parents were slain she was appointed as the heir to lead their siblings, but she never thought that was a role she'd have to take on. Instead, she decided that she would enforce the divine power of the orphans, bending many celestials to their banner during and after The War in Heaven. Her holy stigmata was forged in the shape of a fist gripping a bolt of lightning during a mana storm, a rare planerlogical event in which the forces of magic that flow through the multiverse are thrown into a frenzy. Duufaan is said to be meticulous with choosing her clerics and sends them divine dreams and guiding angels almost as much as her brother Liftiin, The Orphan of Light. Devout followers of Duufaan are rare, and when they do exist they rarely stick to one place. Usually, they travel to the Five Kingdoms, preaching about the power of the 8 Orphans and how it's important to make regular sacrifices to them. They do so with the utmost confidence and security, knowing that Duufaan is likely guiding and protecting them. The devout followers that do stay put are often picked up by noble lords to help guide them in the matters of the ruling. Followers of Duufaan and Dagaal, The Orphan of War often get along, and many say that Duufaan is the only sibling that Dagaal really respects. Worshipers of Dagaal are giving purpose in their battles and victories, and worshipers of Duufaan have perfectly honed warriors to aid in their protection of order. That is not to say that Duufaan's devotees cannot protect themselves. Dangerous is a mortal who fights not only with strength but zealous conviction as well.

The Arkarta Borqyada

During a time when The Five Kingdoms of Man were once The Kingdom of Man, there was an organization that existed outside of the Kings and Nobility. The Arkarta Borqyada, or just Arkarta for short, was this organization and it devoted itself to two things; Duufaan, and the preservation of The Kingdom of Man. It routed out corrupted or unjust noble officials, enforced the realm's ban on slavery, kept the 5 lower crowns from gaining too much power, and other actions that dealt with protecting and preserving the realm. The most important role of the Arkarta Borqyada was the role of appointing the Next High King. After the last High King died unexpectantly, the Arkarta spread itself thin attempting to manage unrest and fear, and on the night of the appointment ceremony at The Iris Keep the group was attacked by unknown forces, and no one was left alive. The order is attempting to rebuild and reorganize, but with the state of The 5th Age, it seems it will take years for any progress. Many commoners and nobles alike still wonder two things even after the many years since the destruction of The Iris Keep, who would dare attack the most powerful and influential group in The Kingdom of Man, and more importantly. . .how did they manage to pull it off?

Flutaric Malestrume

Throughout The Five Kingdoms of man, as well as the world, there is a strange recorded phenomenon. It's called other things in other regions of the world, but Nomida humans typically refer to it as a Flutaric Malestrume. During this storm, which at first appears like any other heavy thunderstorm, individuals caught within it often experience discomfort, tiredness, and the inability to perform complex magics or operate magic items. This is said to be a punishment by Duufaan on mortals that stray away from the reliance of the gods, and instead attempt to live a life independent of them. This is commonly believed because mana storms often develop over cities or regions with heavy wizard guild activity. It's unknown how Duufaan feels about the art of arcanistry, but most followers of Duufaan are extremely distrusting of wizards, alchemists, and artificers. As such immediately after Mana Storms arcanists are often forced to lay low or recede from the public view, which in turn pulls many people back into receiving help from priests and praying at shrines instead of receiving direct assistance from the guilds.

Cleric Information

This is a link to someone wishing to create a cleric of the tempest domain. http://dnd5e.wikidot.com/cleric:tempest. Wanna be the hardass cleric? Duufaan is the god for you! This is def the god for someone who wants to create a holier than thou cleric, not only because you can preach to the party, but you can also preach to the NPC's of the world, and have good reason to do so too. Most clerics have a personal divine connection and that's enough for them, but Duufaan clerics have a vested interest in making sure you offer 1/6 of your buttered bread to the gods. You could also go for the silent judgy type, shaking their head in shame and maybe withholding healing for a turn or two until that sticky finger rouge repents for taking from the alter. Whatever you choose make sure you bring it up with me before you start making anything concrete.
