Lftiin, The Orphan of Light (Lift-in)

The Orphan of Light

Lftiin is one of the 8 Orphans of the Orufensu Pantheon, the most widely worshiped pantheon in The Five Kingdoms. They are the fourth oldest of their siblings and represent the domain of light as well as undying persistence and faith. It is said that Lftiin is the most courageous of the 8 Orphans, and was the one who fought Ibliis during the final battle of The War in Heaven. His holy stigmata is a beam of light striking a surface and was forged very quickly. The beam now stands as his holy symbol.  In most depictions and retellings of this story, Lftiin wears no armor on their torso but has a heavily armored lower body. This depiction is also how he is commonly viewed, except for in Ishalan. Their skin is shown as a bronze color and they have dark black hair and are always shown smiling or smirking. Many people pray to Lftiin when their loyalty is wavering, or when they feel like everything is against them in life. Those who are devout to Lftiin often embody his traits of being cocky, extremely devoted to their goals, and never wavering in the face of danger. Something to note is that Lftiin was the last orphan seen on the mortal plane, breaking a trend of thousands of years during the 4th Era. His followers also experience cryptic dreams and angelic messengers more often than any other followers of the Orufensu Pantheon, leading to the feeling of a more personal connection with the deity. It is said that Lftiin is in love with and rivaled against Hooska, a goddess of shadows from a different pantheon, and their devout followers have long since fought against each other in quasi holy wars, attempting to thwart the goals and ambitions of the other.

Ishalan Worshipers

There is a subsect of Ishal people that believe that Lftiin is the Immortal Force of the Sun and Light rather than Cadceed, the normal god of the sun and light worshiped by those who follow the Immortal Forces Pantheon. Cadceed, who is known as a wrathful god, has ordered that these people be executed, and this further drug the desert kingdom into turmoil. The Ishal worshipers of Lftiin depicted him as a humanoid male with pure white eyes, wings of light, and armor of Sun Steel. His other features remain the same, and he is still known as Lftiin by these people. How this small religious cult came to be is unknown, but some researchers into it say that there is evidence that Amatrace (one of The Five Kingdoms of Man) is responsible. Amatrace has been at off and on war with Ishalan for years, so such a claim is not too farfetched. . .

The Close Connection

Religious scholars have long debated why Lftiin seems to contact and guide his followers more than the other 8 Orphans. Some say this is due to him having more power, not being afraid of whatever keeps the 8 Orphans away from Iskudar, or his connection with the goddess Hooska of the Immortal Forces Pantheon. Hooska is rumored to reside in a plane adjacent to the Mortal Realm known as the Shadowfell. If this is the case then it would stand to reason that he would travel down to visit her frequently, whether to do battle or engage in romantic activity. While on the way to the shadow fell he could communicate with his followers more frequently, but chooses to do so in the same fashion as his siblings, perhaps not to raise suspicion among them. But what would be so taboo about the Mortal Realm that he would travel to it in secret?

The Order of The Undying Light

The Order of The Undying Light, or The Undying Light, is a faction of that worship Lftiin. They often spend most of their efforts battling thieves guilds and cults devoted to the worship of Hooska as well as attempting to do general good in the world. Their members swear an oath to battle against thieves but don't always do so with sword and spell, in some cases, they will do charity work with the poor and help establish a new business in order to employ people. This strategy usually is fought against by the powers that be, preferring a poorer population that is reliant on crime and the services of the city to survive. Because of this, The Undying Light has developed a reputation for starting political incidents and thusly has a hard time finding locations to construct chapters. Despite this, they continue to attempt to do good in the world.
This is a link to someone wishing to create a cleric of the life domain. http://dnd5e.wikidot.com/cleric:light. This god is great for a character who is cocky, devoted to doing what's right no matter what and is not afraid to scrap with a local Innkeeper because they cheated a patron out of a room because of their race. Of course, a more laid-back character could be an interesting contrast from the god as well. Whatever you choose make sure you bring it up with me before you start making anything concrete.
