Expelling Evil
Guided by
Kristoff Kallahn,
The Sexiles were hired to investigate dark magic being used here, suspected to be
M'Kufu Uwanja after his return to the city.
Upon entry, M'Kufu's voice was heard echoing throughout and mocking the group, and evidence of desecration and the murder of his guards is found. Several Elemental creatures attacked the group, attempting to prevent them gaining a series of four keys. They also find a body stuffed into the large oven in the kitchen, and several servants buried in earth within their quarters.
Portraits of the Uwanja family are found in a gallery, with tears in the canvas over their eyes or throats. The family portrait displays M'Kufu and his wife
Wazimu Uwanja, along with their son
M'Byo Uwanja, and M'kufu also holding an infant child.
M'Byo's body is found in his bedroom, with his heart and ribs cut out. In a small simply nursery, they find a gently rocking yet empty cot, and the corpse of the family maid crouched in the corner clutching empty swaddling linens. Her ghost is present and the group learn of the horrific murders that M'Kufu has committed, and that he has stolen her child. The ghost also sees something about Kristoff, who when confronted reveals his true patronage and reason for being there.
In the secret cavern underneath the villa, M'kufu was found at the crescendo of his dark ritual, and as the Sexiles struggled to break through his wall of force, the mad wizard's plan came to an abrupt end - the ritual fails. The Sexiles watch as M'Kufu looses control over it, the pages of dark magic that were spinning around him burn to ash and betray him, his body breaks and splits and engorges and M'Kufu is destroyed, replaced by a monstrous creature of shadow and bone.
The Sexiles battle the nightmare and finally
Pheno, pinned in it's vile claws, vanquishes it using a
Mace of Disruption.
Part of the ritual seemed to be an infant child, the baby of the maid that was haunting the Villa. The child lives still, although a portion of its form has turned stone-like.
