The Conflict
Prelude
The barrels of the 1102nd’s guns had barely begun to cool in the aftermath of the battle of Volathyra IX when orders were relayed by Imperial Command that they prepare for immediate deployment to Heckliamnios I to reinforce the planet’s crumbling defences. Moving swiftly, the regiment’s battered tanks and troopers boarded their troopship with grim determination. According to a scattered astropathic communique, Korvohk led the traitor forces on Heckliamnios I. Vengeance would be had and the regiment’s honour would be restored.
Deployment
After learning of the Iron Warriors staging point, Alpha Company launched a swift frontal assault catching the enemy unawares. The Iron Warriors were utilizing a ruined fuel dump to resupply prior to completing their march.
Battlefield
The battlefield took place around a pair of isolated warehouses around an old and abandoned promethium refinery.
The Engagement
The battle was over before it truly began. Lacking any screening elements, the Leviathan Dreadnoughts were quickly destroyed by the armoured thrust of the 1102nd with no losses and minimal damage to the Cadian armoured column.
Outcome
A Lord Discordant and the relic dreadnoughts to which he tended were all slain and denied to the enemy. Not a single Cadian was injured in the engagement, and damage to Alpha Company’s tanks was minimal.
Aftermath
While a minor skirmish in its own right, the Leviathan Dreadnoughts were destroyed before the traitor forces of the planet could properly utilize their might. While the battle was relatively minor, Imperial Command utilized the crushing nature of the victory as a sorely needed source of positive propaganda showing that the war for Heckliamnios was turning in the Imperium’s favour.
