Session 21 - Mysteries of Oikos and Naos
General Summary
The party, now consisting of Candid, Ischyrós, and Theresa for the time being, decided to honor their promise to Spyridon to give him a proper burial, and traveled to his estate. There, they sought out the old healer that Theresa worked under, Aspasia, and informed Spyridon's son Eurymachos that they had returned. Aspasia quickly leapt back in fright, seeing the touch of death upon the party. Soon afterwards Eurymachos also arrived to meet the party.
In the healer's room, Eurymachos learned of Spyridon's passing at the hands of King Minos. However, he was quick to blame Pyro as well. He, heeding the words of the old healer, believed that Pyro was not a good luck charm, but a curse, one that ended up killing his father. The party told Eurymachos that Pyro had almost certainly been captured by the current reigning king, Pentheus, and Eurymachos was quick to note that Pentheus needed to be usurped. His hold the country was weak, and many of the children of the heroes that once worked with Kadmos were upset that Polydoros was not allowed to lead the country.
Speaking in double tongues, Ischyros managed to convince Eurymachos that the party could reclaim Pyro and help overthrow Pentheus with his help, specifically, material support. Eurymachos agreed, but did not want to be connected with the party for the time being, since it could be seen as treason. Preparations needed to be complete before he and the others were attacked by Pentheus' soldiers. The party left, but not before obtaining an elixir from the old healer Aspasia, that would grant visions to those that drank it.
The party, now leaving at a late hour and needing to find rest for the evening, headed towards Rabdos at Candid's request. Theresa knew of a domicile dedicated to Demeter that would take in guests. However, as night felt, a great boar rushed past the party with the rumble of the earth. The party hid, but the boar turned towards Candid and Ischyros. Perhaps the boar smelled the heroic bloodline of Zeusin Candid.
The fight was started with the party split up, and lighting limited. Before Theresa could assist in any meaningful way, a strange owl flew away from her. And Isychros and Candid, working together, slew the mystical boar. Upon arriving at the domicile of Demeter, however, the hostess was furious. The boar was blessed by Demeter, and they had just killed it. Theresa and the party explained that the discord of the night had caused this, and that they came under orders of Hades and Zeus bearing a message. The priestess to Demeter understood the message, and understood the warning of things to come. So she sent them away, and told them to claim the boar.
Theresa wished to pay respects to the boar, and knowing some of the old ways, convinced the party to return to the boar. She wanted to lay it to rest, and camp at its place of rest for the evening. When they turned back, a pack of wolves had already found it, and were eager to fight the party for the carrion.
