Luvoilian Wetlands
At the southern end of Gaion, the Luvoilian Wetlands are home to "Marais Infranchissible", a dense inhospitable swampland that few traverse. It is controlled by the Portaway family, although there is little they can do to make the area more hospitable.
Little to no resources are gathered here, but it does have access to Peat, a rare incredibly useful resource for the Thesari Highlands and the Imperial Dominion of Spayle as a whole. It is also packed with wildlife from reptiles and amphibians to fish and birdlife; this makes it a fantastic hunting ground, for those brave enough to travel it.
After Myst Day, the whole of the Dominion lost contact from Luvoilian for some time. For many years no one knew if anyone who lived in the harsh environment was alive. However, land parties from ships coming from the Praehedron Coast found small villages still operating in the swamps, barely clinging to life.
There has since been many incursions into Luvoilian, all of them "off the books", exchanging weaponry and tools for food.
Geography
Swampy wetlands and pits sprinkle the entire area, making harborage for the many species that call it home. Luvoilia is low and empties into the sea itself, so its wetlands are brackish water of varying depth, maxing out at 40 or so feet deep.
The land is flat and the murky water that cuts off direct paths makes the biome feel more like a swamp sprinkled with islands than land with swampy water running through it.
Ecosystem
The moss-filled trees hang low and a greenish hue can be seen throughout Luvoilia. The fauna is dense in most places and various types of palms and pines can be located within the swamps.
Creatures that make the area home are used to a survival of the fittest environment, as the abundance of crawling and creeping creatures makes the area a minefield for animals with natural predators - and even the predators have predators in Luvoilia.
Natural Resources
Luvoilian is home to the most biologically diverse and dense population of animals in Gaion. As such, the amount of food that can be harvested through hunting is astronomical. However, the creatures that live there are usually quite deadly.
Peat is also a rare and important commodity much needed in areas like the Thesari Highlands, Eabrasian Valley and Praehedron Coast. So much so that it keeps the few villages that exist there functioning.
