Helios Legionary
The Helios Legionary is an esteemed military force in Springstar, known for its unwavering loyalty, unparalleled discipline, and formidable combat prowess. Comprised of highly trained and dedicated soldiers, the Legionary serves as the vanguard of Springstar's defense, safeguarding the city and its inhabitants from threats both internal and external, since they operate in lieu of a police force.
The Legionary undergoes rigorous training, honing their skills in various forms of combat, from swordsmanship to archery, and tactical warfare strategies. Beyond their military might, the Legionary is also recognized for its unwavering sense of honor, integrity, and code of conduct. Each Legionary adheres to a strict set of principles, valuing justice, valor, and selflessness. They serve not only as protectors of the city but also as upholders of Springstar's values and ideals.
Small units of the Legionary are sometimes contracted out to Highstorm, though in very limited amounts. As one notable example, there is a small unit every year to protect a straw goat used to celebrate Yule. This service has markedly decreased since the arrival of this generation of Shard-Bearers, however.

Logistics
Recruitment
Military service is mandatory for all citizens born in Springstar for a period of a minimum of three years. There isn't a specific age where citizens are required to begin their service due to the wide variety of peoples in Kenos, but it's more generally defined as "adulthood". All recruits go through an intensive three-month training period to learn the basic skills of military service, and from there will specialize depending on their skills and interests. While three years is mandatory, it's also rather common for citizens to serve for a longer period.
