Himhineldar Shel Mountain Range (Him-Hin-El-Dar Shell)

The Himhineldar Shel mountain range stretches across the continent for over 1,000 miles, with a diverse landscape of snow-capped peaks, deep valleys, and rushing rivers. The range is home to many peaks of varying sizes and cultural significance to the peoples who live among them.

Mount Thrymheim: This peak, named for the giant king Thrym, is the highest point in the Himhineldar Shel mountains, standing at over 15,000 feet tall. The mountain is home to a clan of frost giants who worship Thrym as their patron deity. The peak is considered sacred to the giants and is believed to be the location where Thrym's soul ascended to the heavens.
Mount Valtor: This peak is named for the legendary Goliath warrior Valtor, who is said to have climbed to the summit and communed with the gods. The mountain is considered sacred to the Goliaths, who often make pilgrimages to its peak to seek guidance from their deity, Kord. Valtor's Peak, the summit of the mountain, is believed to be the location where Valtor communed with Kord, and many Goliaths believe that the spirits of their ancestors dwell on the mountain's slopes.
Mount Taurik: This mountain is considered sacred to the Minotaurs, who believe that it is the location where their deity, Joronok, first appeared to their people. The mountain is home to many small villages and shrines, and the Minotaurs who live in the area are fiercely protective of their sacred site. The peak of the mountain is said to be the location where Joronok first spoke to the Minotaur people, and many pilgrims journey to the summit to receive his wisdom.
Mount Grothor: This peak is home to a clan of fire giants who have made their home in the heart of the mountain. The giants have built a massive forge deep within the mountain, where they craft weapons and armor of incredible power. The fire giants are renowned throughout the region for their skill in smithing, and many adventurers seek out their weapons and armor.
The mountains are also home to many trolls, who often dwell in the valleys and caverns between the peaks. The trolls are a constant threat to the peoples of the region, and many villages and towns have been destroyed by their raids. Despite the dangers, however, the mountains are a place of great beauty and wonder, and many adventurers journey into their depths seeking treasure, glory, and adventure.

Geography

Starting as nothing more than hills, the Himhineldar Shel mountain range begins in earnest the Faldesu River, near the border between Zoluren and Therengia.  Stretching southward, the mountains vary from brown, rugged peaks to snow capped volcanic calderas, and even into the massive Wyvern Mountain near it's southern end.
The passage past the mountains is extremely dangerous, where one can be found.  Only two passages through the mountains are known, one guarded by the (now ruined) bastion of Wyvern Mountain, and the Dragonfire Pass in Zoluren, guarded by the citadel of Stormhold.

Natural Resources

The mountain range, as a whole, is mined heavily for iron and copper ores.  The northern sections also contain a plethora of jewels and gems, as the range comes close to colliding with the Gemfire Mountains near Langenfirth.  Individual mountains and areas are mined for other ores, including gold, platinum, and silver.
