Foxhollow Farm
"Foxhollow Farm is the oldest and largest still producing farm in Alcedene. A relic from a more genteel period in the frontier town's history, its large plantation house is iconic and immediately recognizable. For the Alcedeneans, it is a symbol of a glorious past, and a bright future. Just as soon as the Greenskins are driven from the Badlands."
~Margrave Arronax Skinner, Elector of Cambreath
Purpose / Function
Primarily, Foxhollow Farm provides flax for felt. Additionally, there is a large pond on premises from which reeds for wicker are harvested, and in the spring and summer months a flock of geese has been periodically living there for generations. An ash orchard takes up the southwest corner, and a large pumpkin patch surrounds it.
Alterations
Originally, Foxhollow was a four-field rotation farm with a large central plantation house and a workman's barracks. Due to the shifting border, it's been surrounded by a 6 ft. stone wall with a single iron gate, and the workman's barracks has added an armory to arm the staff in the event of a Greenskin or bandit raid.
Architecture
The plantation house is instantly recognizable, with alabaster mud-brick walls and marble pillars. There are three floors, a storage cellar and an attic, with polished oak floors and wooden walls adorned with hunting trophies.
The workman's barracks is made from wood and fired-clay brick, insulated on the inside with bare flax-wool. There are two floors, one room each in the barracks, with the walls lined with cots and wall closets for storage of personal items. Typically, the barracks houses 45 workers, mostly indentures, but it can house up to 150. Attached to the back is a fully stocked armory capable of arming 175 with full Balatar kit..
A large, four segmented silo/smokehouse stands apart from the plantation house that can process and store all material produced by the workers.
