Skogsalver

The Skogsalver, are a species of elves that differentiated from the High Elves during the Godswar. They are very few in number and live reclusive, simple lives. Most live hidden deep in the primordial forests, but some live in the Great Desert, others live in the polar regions, and still others live high in certain mountainous regions.

The origin of their name is uncertain, as it does not seem to have roots in any known language.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Skogsalver anatomy mirrors that of other sylvans.

Genetics and Reproduction

Skogsalver reproduce sexually and can also produce sterile offspring with orcs and other sylvans. Furthermore, they also are fully capable of breeding with humans, and their offspring are called half-sylvans. Half-sylvans are capable of producing their own offspring. Half-sylvans that mate with other half-sylvans produce another generation of half-sylvans. When a half-sylvan mates with a sylvan, their offspring is of the same species as their sylvan parent. Half-sylvans that mate with humans produce human children.

Ecology and Habitats

The skogsalver live reclusively in dense forests, where they shun other sapient species, save a few favored fey or Opera.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Wood Elves are omnivorous, eating whatever game or forage can be found in their forested home.

Behaviour

Skogsalver bear an instictive distrust of other sapient creatures. They will flee or hide whenever possible, but may become aggressive if their homes are invaded, or when they can't hide or escape.

Additional Information

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

Wood elves' skin tends to be copperish or light brown in hue, sometimes with traces of green. Their hair is always brown, though it may vary in shade from chestnut to almost black. Their eyes are green, brown, or hazel. Their ears do not feature the fade to pink near the ear canal that other elves' ears exhibit.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Like all sylvans, the skogsalver can see to an extent in dim light and darkness.

Skogsalver Traits

Ability Score Increase
Your Dexterity score increases by 2, and your Wisdom score increases by 1.
Age
Although elves reach physical maturity at about the same age as humans, the elven understanding of adulthood goes beyond physical growth to encompass worldly experience. An elf typically claims adulthood and an adult name around the age of 100 and can live to be 750 years old.
Size
You are Medium.
Speed
Your base walking speed is 35 feet.
Darkvision
Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Keen Senses
You have proficiency in the Perception skill.
Origin in Vigor
Your species originated on the Realm of Vigor and developed certain traits there. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep.
Trance
Elves don’t need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is “trance.”) While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.
Languages
You can speak, read, and probably write the dialect of Elvish common to your home. Additionally, you can speak, read, and write the Common language in the region where the campaign begins.
Elf Weapon Training
You have proficiency with the longsword, shortsword, shortbow, and longbow.
Mask of the Wild
You can attempt to hide even when you are only lightly obscured by foliage, heavy rain, falling snow, mist, or other natural phenomena.
