Port Phantymas

the canibalized trade port

Port Phantymas is a city at the eastern coast of Ubos.

Demographics

Despite the large ammout of trade that arrives the overall population is not nearly as rich as would to be expected, while they are not poverty stricken, their wealth is average at best. This is because the vast majority trade is funneled towards Aodios, Port Phantymas is merely making profit of the tarifs. But since the tarifs are regulated by the Concil of Guilds of the Aodian Metropolitan Area, where phantymian busnises and guilds are overshadowed by the overwelming influnce of aodian enterprises, the interessts of Port Phantymas are of little concern.

Defences

Position

Proximity to Aodios

Port Phantymas is in fact within the range of some of the defensive artillery of Aodios. However, the Nefadric Capital-Class Defensive Bombardment Howitzer is the only of those that is able to accurately bombard enemy formations, as any rockets are to inconsistent at this range and most of them would be wasted. Nevertheless, aodian fire support gives Port Phantymas a massive advantage should it be besieged.

Omyhx Thicket as Natural Barrier

Much like it's neighbor Aodios, Port Phantymas is mostly encased by the perilous Omyhx Thicket. To the north the are the most viscous parts of the horrific forrest and any army would have to somehow squeze by the heavily fortified Aodios which blocks access from the east. To the south another part of the Omyhx Thicket which contains a steep cliff make the terrain intraverseable. This leaves the Phantymian-Yelendian-Pass in the south east as the only land connection to the costal city, since there is only open sea in the west.

Fortifications

Regional Defences

Ubodian Underground Tunnel Network

Far, far below the ground, there is a well guarded supply highway. Originaly these tunnels were used to transport the heavy granite blocks from the Blackrock Frontier to Aodios, hence the control has been handed to the Extents Mining Group and have flourished ever since. The tunnels have been modernized 1403 from to 1474 to accomodate a railway that connects Aodios not only to the Blackrock Frontier but the whole Blackrock Mountainrange, even up to the Black Fortress and recently the railway has been extended south to connect Ylendiff and the Drakeforge Military Harbour. Everything from industrial goods, food, equipment and ammunition are shipped in bulk across the major cities of Ubos. Should the need arise additional soldiers and reinforcements would be shipped by the railway aswell.

The tunnels can be segment by nearly thrity, half-meter thick, solid steel gates and guarded by the Extents Mining Group's own elite unit, the Blackguard. Access to these tunnels is heavily restricted and goods, which are not empire owned, that are supposed to be shipped by the train, don't even get near the tunnels without proper documentation. Even then they have to undergo a lengthy in depth search.
Should all defence measures fail, there is a doomsday protocoll which declares that in case an enemy army should gain access to the tunnels and try to force thier way through the gates with noteworthy success, any compromised tunnels and connected segments shall be collapsed by high powered destruction spells, liberaly.

Ubos Signal Corps

The Ubos Signal Corps maintains a network of forward, remotuscope equipped, watch towers and signal fires to provide advanced reconaisance and early enemy detection, thereby dasticly extending the time the region has to prepare before potential threats. To improve regional comunication aside from signal fires the Ubos Signal Corps have dovecotes and stables at every major city and post station.   Other responsiblities of the Ubos Signal Corps include running postal system of the region, printing and distribution of the Imperial Newsletter as well as providing herolds and city cryers.

Ubos Intelligence Corps

The Ubos Intelligence Corps is a nefadric agency is in essence a secret police force that maintains a counter espionage and surveillance network, performs covert actions as well as psycological operations. Field agents have access to plentyful resourcess, deep coffers and are fueled by zealous fanaticism. Field agents lean on the ubodian infrastructure that has been fitted with inconsipicous safehouses and secret bases of operation to support them in thier duties.   On occasion field agents are assigent as investigators directly to a local watch, constable or gendarmery of the settlement to aid them with extraordinarily difficult cases or when local tensions grow to reassure controll.

History

Edict of the Aodian Metroplitan Area

Port Phantymas has gotten their nickname 'the canibalized trade port' because as Aodios and it's influence grew, one could say, it has swallowed Port Phantymas. While the cities don't border each other directly, the short distance and excellent means of trasnport has lead to them becoming essentially intertwined. This has been ratified with the Edict of the Aodian Metropolitan Area, that declares Port Phantymas an extension of Aodios and serverly reduced the autonomy in desicion making the port had before.

Ubos is the heavily fortified capital province of the The Nefadric Empire. It is a center of innovation, site of living nefadric history and a true beacon of Jubixian Faith. It's regional development is astounding, providing a vast number of services.

The great ubodian region stands proud and vast, so that all may gaze in wonderment.

Though Ubos is not a paradise by far. Due to the high population, food is expensive and in part depended on external supply. And while efforts have been made, disease and plagues run rampart in the cities. Magical Hazards like the perilous Omyhx Thicket and evil weather are horrors that are beyond the imagination of those not native to the region.
