Leaf

Leaf is a drug in the world of Lasarian which was discovered many centuries ago in the old ages prior to year 0. It was something that people smoked and no one really cared for it until 1743 when The Tar Faction began making it in mass. Their goal was for the drug to be their main source of income for their syndicates and smuggling organizations. The rest of the world when hearing of this mass selling began restricting the trade and putting tariffs on it which led to the smuggling, but the drug was still kept legal. When The Tar Faction joined King Salican in his war against Ral, the buying of Leaf was frowned upon. In The Aiden League it was heavily taxed and restricted. Ral never had to ban it, as most people bought their supplies from other sources, but there were some people, mainly in the east, that didn't care and kept getting it straight from the source. Alternative sources were Xararten, The Yem Alliance, and The Darian Isles. The problem was they got their supplies mainly from The Tar Faction.
Leaf was a substance put into a pipe or rolled up into a stick. It was lit, and the smoke was to be inhaled and enjoyed. It was highly addictive but was accepted by most in everyday life.

Significance

Many in Lasarian endulged in Leaf and it was the main thing getting money to The Tar Faction.

The smoke had a extremely unpleasent smell.

Leaf could be farmed and made in Ral and Xararten but The Faction was the only one to make a effort to have a vast supply for the sake of selling to the world.

Rarity

Leaf is made from the vine leaf native to the swamps of Ral and Tar Faction. Many vines would do but it was how it was refined that made it special.
