General Summary
Alors que le soleil se lève à peine sur la capitale de l'Empire, nos deux héros sont déjà réveillés par l'activité sur le pont du Bérébéli, la barge de Josef Quartjin. Les préparatifs battent leur plein pour pouvoir quitter Altdorf et commencer le voyage vers Bögenhafen . Josef prend quelques minutes pour présenter un autre voyageur au duo: Ernst Heidlemann , jeune étudiant en médecine qui doit se rendre à Bögenhafen pour rencontrer un professeur et lui livrer des documents. Wolmar, un des membres d'équipages, apporte une étrange rumeur: il se murmure sur le port que des recherches sont en cours pour retrouver deux personnes (un homme et une femme) qui auraient été vu se querellant avec deux nobles la veille au soir. Les nobliaux sont morts... Tout cela fait furieusement penser à la rencontre avec Jacob von Katzenreik et Georges von Ostbrun Ils vaut peut-être mieux que Rayaar et Karl se fassent oublier quelques temps. Encore une raison pour quitter la capitale!
Les amarres sont enfin largués et le Bérébéli s'engage sur les eaux calmes du Reik, longeant d'abord les habitations puis arrivant dans le Reikport, entourés de navires de guerres et autres vaisseaux pénitenciers. Le reste du trajet se fait dans un calme bienvenu.
La barge, après le paiement d'un droit de péage, s'engage sur le Canal de Weissbrucke qui permet de gagner un peu de temps sur la route du Sud. Josef a promis 2 pistoles d'argent au deux aventuriers pour leur aide à manoeuvrer dans l'étroit canal. Le seul événement notable est la rencontre avec un groupe de patrouilleurs routiers, longeant la rivière et mentionnant le meurtres des deux jeunes riches héritiers à Altdorf. Prudent, Karl se dissimule dans la cale durant cette discussion.

Karl et Rayaar aperçoivent un visage connu dans la foule: L'homme trapu qui avait ouvert la porte aux deux énergumènes gesticulants sur la Konigsplatz à Altdorf, est là. Sur un ponton, il semble chercher du regard quelque chose. Lorsque son attention se porte sur la barge et plus particulièrement sur Karl, il s'anime tout à coup et s'éloigne dans la foule. Dès leur débarquement, nos deux héros tentent de le retrouver... Sans succès. La visite des 3 auberges de la ville ne donneront pas de meilleurs résultats. Déçus et résignés, Karl et Rayaar retournent dormir sur le Bérébéli.
Mais la nuit sera de courte durée! Après quelques heures, les deux aventuriers se réveillent dans une atmosphere enfumée. Le conduit d'évacuation du poêle a été obstrué, forçant tout l'équipage à sortir rapidement de la cabine!
Une fois sur le pont, trois silhouettes s'avancent: "Kastor Lieberung ! Enfin, te voilà ! Prepares toi à mourir et payer tes crimes!"
Le combat s'engage rapidement et le chef des aggresseurs se révèle être un combattant de grande valeur. Malgré l'opposition désespérée de l'équipage de la Barge, il envoie au tapis Karl. Le pauvre herboriste finit le combat au sol, se vidant de son sang, tout en rampant pour éviter tout nouveau coup. Rayaar ne s'en sort que guère mieux, elle croule sous les coups de son assaillant et se blesse à la cheville. Alors que le combat prend une tournure compliquée, la garde de la ville, attirée par les cris, fait son apparition.
Un des assaillants, paniqué, parvient à s'échapper en se jetant dans la Bogen, tandis que le chef du groupe est finalement terrassé par un coup de Wolmar. L'aventure a bien failli se terminer ici pour Karl. Alors que les premiers soins sont prodigués à même le pont, Rayaar parvient discrètement à faire les poches de leur mystérieux assaillant et y trouve un Lettre pour Adolphus , qui donne d'interessantes informations. Cet agresseur se nomme donc Adolfus Kuftsos. . Mais qui était il ? Et pourquoi pourchassait-il Kastor, le sosie de Karl avec tant d'agressivité ?
La suite dans Bienvenue à Bogenhäfen As the sun barely rises over the Empire's capital, our two heroes are already awakened by the activity on the deck of the Bérébéli, Josef Quartjin's barge. Preparations are in full swing to leave Altdorf and begin the journey to Bögenhafen . Josef takes a few minutes to introduce another traveller to the duo: Ernst Heidlemann , a young medical student who has to go to Bögenhafen to meet a professor and deliver some documents. Wolmar, one of the crew members, brings with him a strange rumour: rumour has it that a search is under way in the port for two people (a man and a woman) who were seen quarrelling with two noblemen the previous evening. The nobles are dead... It's all very reminiscent of the meeting with Jacob von Katzenreik and Georges von Ostbrun Perhaps it would be better if Rayaar and Karl were to disappear for a while. Yet another reason to leave the capital! The moorings were finally cast off and the Berebeli entered the calm waters of the Reik, first skirting the dwellings and then arriving in the Reikport, surrounded by warships and other penitentiary vessels. The rest of the journey is a welcome calm. After paying a toll, the barge entered the Weissbrucke Canal, which saved some time on the southern route. Josef has promised the two adventurers 2 silver pistols for their help in manoeuvring the narrow canal. The only event of note is the encounter with a group of highway patrolmen along the river, who mention the murders of the two rich young heirs in Altdorf. Cautious, Karl hides in the hold during this discussion.
The following evening, Weissbruck came into view.
As the Berebeli approached the quay of this small town. Karl and Rayaar spotted a familiar face in the crowd: the stocky man who had opened the door to the two gesticulating weirdos on the Konigsplatz in Altdorf is standing there. On a pontoon, he seems to be looking for something. When his attention is drawn to the barge and Karl in particular, he suddenly comes to life and walks away into the crowd.
As soon as they disembark, our two heroes try to find him... But to no avail. Visits to the town's 3 inns yield no better results. Disappointed and resigned, Karl and Rayaar return to sleep on the Berebeli.
But the night is short-lived! After a few hours, the two adventurers wake up to a smoky atmosphere. The exhaust pipe from the stove has been blocked, forcing the whole crew to get out of the cabin quickly!
Once on deck, three silhouettes step forward: "Kastor Lieberung! Here you are at last! Prepare to die and pay for your crimes! The fight quickly gets under way and the leader of the attackers proves to be a very worthy fighter. Despite the desperate opposition of the Barge's crew, he sends Karl to the mat. The poor herbalist ended up on the ground, bleeding to death as he crawled to avoid any further blows. Rayaar fared little better, crumbling under the blows of her assailant and injuring her ankle. As the fight took a complicated turn, the town guard, drawn by the screams, appeared. One of the attackers, panicked, manages to escape by throwing himself into the Bogen, while the leader of the group is finally brought down by a blow from Wolmar. The adventure almost ended here for Karl. While first aid was being administered on the deck, Rayaar discreetly managed to pick the pockets of their mysterious assailant and found a Letter for Adolphus , which contained some interesting information. The attacker's name is Adolfus Kuftsos . But who was he? And why was he chasing Kastor, Karl's double, so aggressively?
