Elíhilis, the Mother of the Heavens, is one of the two gods in the Pantheon of the Dawn that came into existence when her father, Alar'itari, died. Born alongside her sister, Palális, Elíhilis took control of Riehelíhei and the stars as her twin formed and asserted her will over the world. She suggested to her sibling that the two of them should form creatures similar to themselves who they could then bestow upon tasks. The first of their children, Heláia, brought life to Riel, and then Tolóni was born to deliver the dead to Elíhilis. The last of their children, Héril and Olícheril, were somewhat of an accident.

Riehelíhei, the afterlife where all dead alcheni go, is under the care and protection of Elíhilis. She looks into the hearts of the deceased and grants them a position befitting their deeds in life. Those who can gain the goddess’ favour are spared the unending darkness of death and can instead live a new life free from misery and pain, enjoying neverending feasts and other activities with everyone else the ruler of Riehelíhei has deemed worthy.
Good deeds alone are not sufficient for one’s salvation. Elíhilis cares deeply about the personalities of those that she allows to enter the afterlife. If a dead man or woman in any way irks her, then chances are that they will be denied entrance.

Cult of Elíhilis

Those who seek to devote their lives to serve Elíhilis are often fairly well-educated people with a keen interest in either the supernatural or celestial navigation. Her followers are studious scholars who spend hours scribbling down notes as they research under-explored subjects to develop new technologies that could benefit everyone.
Communities dedicated to the Mother of the Heavens also aspire to be as discriminatory as their goddess when it comes to rejecting the unpleasant. Everyone is given a fair opportunity to join, but if major faults in behaviour are detected during the course of the trial week, then the applicant can be expelled from the community.
