Oh Lord of Vol, shield our minds from the curse that ails our people. We understand that our people have lost sight of what's good and true in the world, but are we, your most faithful servants, not worthy of a dignified dead free from visions and voices?— Marúidin Ilisí, a Laiqí in Helendriel
Olícheril, the Lord of
Vol, is the third-born child of
Palális and
Elíhilis, according to the
Pantheon of the Dawn. He came to being alongside his younger twin,
Héril, and although their creation had been an accident, the two of them had proved themselves useful as the Lords of the Two Moons. Olícheril asserted himself as the god of memories, aging, and time itself, while his younger brother became a god for the energised youth.
Master of the Bright Moon
Woe to those who belittle our history and care little for the future!— Marúidin Ilisí, a Laiqí in Helendriel
Tales surrounding the creation of the Lords of the Two Moons are shrouded in mystery, but most of the stories seem to agree that the two gods’ birth was an accident of some sort. The legends tell that Palális and Elíhilis had not intended to expand the family, and that they struggled to find roles for their new sons. Olícheril, however, knew exactly what he needed to do. Determined to take on the responsibility to rule over time itself and its effects on the lives of mortals, Olícheril pleaded with his mothers, convincing them of the benefits of such a god.
As Olícheril talked with Palális and Elíhilis, Héril moved to claim the two moons orbiting the planet of
Riel as his own without the other gods’ support. Vol and
Teril’s ownership had been under some dispute, as Palális and Elíhilis had yet to decide whose domain they were or if they should have worked together to rule over the celestial bodies. Héril’s decisive move had put an end to the debate and once his parents were willing to accept his decision, the younger brother gave the smaller but brighter of the two moons, Vol, to Olícheril.

Cult of Olícheril
Followers of the Lord of Vol are on average older folk, many of whom work as scribes, writing down history and contemporary events. There are large community of them in the ancient cities of
Helendriel and
Dirth'ela.
Due to the prevalence of
Vol's Visions among the older
alcheni and Olícheril connection to the moon, he and his followers are sometimes also associated with the madness and neurological degeneration that come with the condition. The cult makes regular offerings in hopes of preventing or delaying the insanity that nearly all of them will one day face.
I like him. He feels to me as though he is a very calm god.
